Will Eagles miss out on playoffs?

POSTED: Saturday, May 22, 2010, 5:53 PM

The Eagles have made the playoffs in eight of the last 10 seasons.

But will they be on the outside looking in as the Kevin Kolb era begins?

Pat Kirwan of NFL.com takes a look at the 12 teams that made the playoffs in 2009 and ranks them based on which are most likely to not get back this season. He has the Eagles third on that list. According to Kirwan, only the Cardinals and Patriots are more likely to miss the postseason:

Trading Donovan McNabb and turning the team over to Kevin Kolb sounds like what Green Bay did when Brett Favre left. It may take a year.

The Packers team Kirwan is talking about went 6-10 with Aaron Rodgers at the helm in 2008. It should be noted though that five of their 10 losses were by three points or less, and seven of their 10 losses were by four points or less.

Meanwhile, not sure if anyone still cares about Governor Ed Rendell's comments, but he tried to explain himself during an interview with Fox 29. Rendell didn't really backtrack from his earlier remarks. He maintains that he'll root for the Redskins and Donovan McNabb if they make the playoffs and the Eagles do not this season.

"I just think we have weakened our team," Rendell said. "And no offense to Kevin Kolb. I hope I am wrong. I hope he is a winning NFL quarterback. But I don’t suspect next year he’s going to be able to step in and take us to the playoffs."

Fact - no SB wins with McNabb - Fact - can't do any worse with Kolb - Fact - Aaron Rodgers rose up in Green Bay after legendary Favre left. So there it is! How can somebody see someone in the airport and say he is an undersized pansy? takes one to know one I guess (Deadskins 2-0 sweep by Eagles)

Jamesloco, get off my jock! I can say what I want and how I want to say it. Look at the rest of the haters and apologists on here. I am an Eagles fan. Yeah, I was for McSoup when he was a young, energetic Eagles QB. Now, he's just used goods with a "woe-is-me" attitude and its not going to change just because of a new location. Why don't you learn how to formulate complete sentences. Moron.

I wouldn't ask are they going to miss, I would of ask how many years would it take to make it again. This is truely a low budget team rebuilt around a bunch of rookies and busted up retreads. No chemistry here. 5-11. Lucky if they win 2 division games this year.

it's only a matter of time until Ed Rendel jumps on the Kolb bandwagon.
