Where Reid ranks; 2013 mocks

Are there 14 NFL head coaches better than Andy Reid? (Matt Rourke/AP)

A few links to get to on this quiet Saturday...

Joe Fortenbaugh of the National Football Post put out his coaching power rankings. You may be surprised to see he's got Andy Reid all the way down at No. 15:

If this were merely a ranking of head coaches based on success over an extended period of time, Reid’s resume would warrant a spot higher up the list. But he dropped the ball in 2011 with an unimpressive 8-8 record despite a roster that was oozing at the seams with talent. Still, it’s tough to overlook five trips to the NFC Championship game and a regular season record of 126-81-1 (.609) in 13 years on the job.

Coaches ranked above Reid (in order): Detroit's Jim Schwartz, the Giants' Tom Coughlin, New England's Bill Belichick, Green Bay's Mike McCarthy, San Francisco's Jim Harbaugh, Baltmore's John Harbaugh, Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin, Denver's John Fox, Atlanta's Mike Smith, Houston's Gary Kubiak, Cincinnati's Marvin Lewis, Tennessee's Mike Munchak, the Jets' Rex Ryan and the Bears' Lovie Smith.

Several draft analysts have already released 2013 mock drafts. Obviously, these should not be taken seriously, considering we don't know where teams are going to pick and prospects haven't even played in 2012 yet, but they give some hints on players to watch.

ESPN.com's Todd McShay has the Birds taking Virginia offensive tackle Oday Aboushi with the 27th pick. McShay's mock indicates he thinks the Eagles will get to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Andrew Perloff of SI.com gives the Eagles LSU safety Eric Reid with the 30th pick:

The Eagles have been searching for an answer at safety since Brian Dawkins left. Reid has had some big plays at LSU, including a game-saving interception in the Tigers' regular-season win over Alabama.

Perloff's projection means he thinks the Eagles are going to get to the NFC championship game in 2012, before losing to the Packers.

Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com has the Eagles missing out on the playoffs and taking Michigan State cornerback Johnny Adams with the 18th pick:

Johnny Adams has been shutting down receivers in the Big 10 for multiple seasons and will be expected to join Nnamdi Asomugha and 2012 fourth-rounder Brandon Boykin in containing the likes of Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Victor Cruz, and Hakeem Nicks in the NFC East after Philadelphia misses the playoffs by one game.
