Before we get started on the Memorial Day links, thank you to all those who have given their lives to protect this country.

And also to all the service men and women who read MTC and have e-mailed over the years.

If you're looking for the usual Five Eagles numbers that matter feature, which usually runs on Monday, that will be posted Tuesday because of the holiday.

Here's a roundup of what the national media are saying about the Birds:

Dan Graziano of ESPN.com paints the best- and worst-case scenarios for the Eagles:

In the Eagles' nightmare scenario, though, the turnover problem doesn't get fixed, the downgrade from Peters to Bell at left tackle messes with the entire offensive line dynamic, Vick gets hurt again and someone like Mike Kafka or Nick Foles has to start a half-dozen games. In the nightmare scenario, 2011 turns out not to have been just one down year for Nnamdi Asomugha but rather the start of a decline. Maclin can't regain his 2010 form the way he's expected to now that he's fully healthy, and Jackson remains a deep downfield decoy who keeps the safeties back and limits Vick's offense to smaller chunks of yardage instead of backbreaking big plays.

Trent Cole is the latest Eagles player to be named to NFL Network's Top 100 list. Cole comes in at No. 57, ahead of Michael Vick (No. 70), DeSean Jackson (No. 71) and Nnamdi Asomugha (No. 79).

ESPN.com attempts to take a peek into the future with power rankings for how teams project in the year 2015. They've got the Eagles coming in at No. 7:

The Eagles do a great job of keeping their roster young and competitive by constantly turning it over, drafting well and making some smart free-agent decisions. Offensive skill players such as RB LeSean McCoy, their key wide receivers, a fairly young offensive line and a defensive line with a deep rotation of young players -- including a youthful group of linebackers -- will keep the roster elite. Questions must be answered down the line about the secondary.

Vick's promotional appearance at a Las Vegas area car dealership was met with a fair share of opposition, according to the Las Vegas Sun:

Commenters on Findlay Toyota’s Facebook page called Vick a “dog killer” and threatened to beat him up. Others posted that they planned to boycott the car dealership for sponsoring Vick for promotional and charity events, including a May 29 youth football clinic at the Henderson International School. In response, the dealership began deleting comments and ultimately shut down the page Friday night.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com runs through the league's top duos, including Jason Babin and Trent Cole:

If you love an attacking brand of football, there is nothing prettier than watching these two guys crouch down in their four-point stances and explode off the line of scrimmage. They are both polished pass rushers and pursue the quarterback with a relentless passion. They combined for 29 sacks last season.
