What they're saying about the Eagles

As you might guess, there's not a whole lot being said about the Eagles this week. Instead, national focus is on Sunday's championship games.

But there are a few links to share, so here you go:

I rounded up a few mock drafts yesterday, but left out one from Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com. He's got the Birds taking North Carolina linebacker Zach Brown:

Though the Eagles defense finished the season strong, their linebackers still had their issues. In Brown — a guy I like more than Boston College's Luke Kuechly — the Eagles would get the type of player who's in on every play, with a ton of potential to get better. A 6-foot-2, 230-pound tackling machine, Brown's a guy who changes games. Watching a UNC game is like watching a Zach Brown highlight reel. The Eagles could use some of that resourcefulness roaming the middle.

SI.com's Peter King has the Eagles 12th in his Fine Fifteen:

Next up for Eagles: the fate of Juan Castillo. Steve Spagnuolo, and a fan base, awaits word.

Marty Mornhinweg is the favorite to get the Colts head-coaching job, according to odds from Bovada. Here's their list:

Marty Mornhinweg: 5/2
Greg Roman: 4/1
Brad Childress: 5/1
Mike Zimmer: 13/2
Dennis Allen: 13/2
Marc Trestman: 7/1
Perry Fewell: 15/2
Tony Dungy: 15/2
Bill Cowher: 10/1
Kirk Ferentz: 12/1
Jon Gruden: 15/1

As you can see, Brad Childress is among the favorites too, behind only Mornhinweg and Greg Roman. And while a few weeks ago, no one was sure if Perry Fewell would even be back as the Giants defensive coordinator, now he's being mentioned as a head-coaching candidate. That's what happens when your team beats Aaron Rodgers and makes a Super Bowl run.

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Hilton released its odds for next year's Super Bowl champ. The Eagles come in at 12 to 1. In the NFC, only the Packers (5 to 1) and the Saints (6 to 1) are ahead of the Eagles. The Patriots (8 to 1) are the AFC favorites. And the Steelers and Ravens also come in at 12 to 1, tied with the Birds.

The Eagles have better odds than the Giants (20 to 1), Cowboys (20 to 1) and Redskins (100 to 1).

Elsewhere, the Saints interviewed Steve Spagnuolo yesterday, according to James Varney of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Per Varney, Sean Payton is not expected to rush his decision and might meet with candidates at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. next week. Varyen also reports that Jack Del Rio has been spotted in New Orleans and Baton Rouge and could be a candidate.

And finally, by now, you've likely heard all the Terrell Owens/Jeremiah Trotter/Donovan McNabb drama, stemming from the wide receiver's GQ article (good take here from Les Bowen). As for Owens' playing days, he's headed to the IFL (Indoor Football League) to suit up for the Allen (Texas) Wranglers. Owens will reportedly make somewhere between $250,000 and $500,000.
