Westbrook's place among the NFL's top 50
options
 

There has been a lot of discussion recently about Brian Westbrook's worth, which reminded me of a list put together by Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com a few weeks ago.

Prisco ranked the top 50 players in the NFL, starting with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the top two spots. So where did Westbrook come in? No. 20. Here's what Prisco wrote:

It's scary to think what the Eagles offense would be like without him. He's a better runner inside the tackles than many expected and he's good in the passing game. He's a versatile weapon.

The only two running backs Prisco had ranked ahead of Westbrook were LaDainian Tomlinson (third overall) and Adrian Peterson (15th).

The other Eagles on the list were Asante Samuel (37th) and Shawn Andrews (38th).

One interesting name ranked ahead of Westbrook was Terrell Owens, who Prisco ranked 13th.

So what do you think? Did Prisco get it right? Should Westbrook be higher or lower than No. 20? What about the rest of the list? Is Brady definitely No. 1? Does Fred Taylor really deserve a spot?

    The #20 spot seems about right for Westbrook, but how Mario Williams, or any other defensive player for that matter, is ranked above Shawn Merriman is baffling.

    I'd move him higher up, definitely better than a turning 35 year old T.O. His 2000+ total yards are possibly being neglected and his 7 rushing TD's might hurt him but he had 5 recieving TD's as well and lets not forget when he just stopped rather than scoring, unselfish and smart play. Lets not forget his ability to pick up the blitz as well. If this is based on current day- where a player is at at this moment in his career - I think T.O is too high, and westbrook too low.

    i agree with The Criddler, T.O.'s best years are behind him at 35 years old, it works like that for any reciever not named Jerry Rice.And Tony Romo only had 1 and 1/2 good years so far- how does that put him close to the top 50? Wade Phillips has gone on record saying the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl. Let's see what happens in January in their 1st playoff game AGAIN!
