Why did Andy Reid choose to switch starting quarterbacks and go with Michael Vick? And what questions does the move bring up for the future of the franchise? I offered my instant reaction on the video below.

Just crazy. Again, I think Vick deserved to be a starter again after that Lions game, it looks as though he can indeed run this offense (but of course I'm basing that on 6 quarters of football, so I could be wrong). BUT, Kolb got screwed. I'll stick to my guns and say he would of thrived in this offense if given a real chance (not the quarter and half he played against the Packers). Yes, Vick gives them a better chance to win now, but win what? They have no shot at a Super Bowl this year...It looks as though Vick will be the QB as long as AR is here (that's another story), but I think AR sacrificed the present for the future. we'll see we'll see

Essentially it's a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in the offensive line. With the OL as shakey and suspect as it is, this was the only sane move. At least Vick has some wheels and elusiveness. Kolb would have been thoroughly hammered against the Lions, and would only get worse. Until the OL is reasonably reliable we'll see Vick. Not that complicated ... really.

This just in! Andy Reid decides Mike Kafka is now the number one QB.

I actually like Mike Kafka. Even he looked better than Kolb in the preseason. We were told Kolb was "saving it" for the real season. Looks like he "lost it" somewhere along the way. Let's be honest, this is a highly competitive sport, and the best man gets the job. That man is Vick right now! He certainly has not shown this level of play in the last year and surprised everyone. Coach did the right thing giving him the ball. Kolb will get another chance. Please stop whining. Its just not football-like.

Seems to me as though this decision came from someone within the organization other than Reid. Banner, Lurie or Roseman. Which makes me wonder if there is a power struggle going on. He would never give in to the media or fan base unless forced to.

I think part of this has to do with Andy Reid's sons. They are ex-cons as well and Reid is in love with the idea that an ex-con can succeed if given a second chance. Vick is a disgusting person. I am so looking forward to his semi-literate post game comments where he chooses the wrong words to express what he's saying. It rhymed with the word he meant to say. Isn't that good enough? Well, Andy, Vick is still a dirtbag. It's not about puting a public relations campaign on and all is better. Vick was an huge a-hole before he got arrested for killing dogs for fun. Vick is the best QB now? Yeah, after they traded the best QB on the team and completely screwed up the development of Kolb. One game against the worse team in the league and Vick is a pocket passing super star. Maybe better. Best QB in the league. Am I the only one questioning Reid's judgement? What a complete waste of time being an Eagles fan turned out to be.

What annoys me is this. It looked like a pretty good majority of sports writers and analysis were screaming that Vick played like he should be the starter. Now they are dogging Andy Reid for making that decision.

Larry Byrd may be on target. If Kolb had shown something in the preseason, Reid might have dismissed the Green Bay game, where Kolb looked just awful mentally. But Kolb has shown nothing in 2010, so he may never be the starter again unless an injury brings him in and he shines for a few games. If this is the case, I still think Kolb should get two more starts right now to prove he's not a starter. We're not going anywhere this year, regardless of the QB. Teams like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and the Jets will have no real problems with Vick. And our defense won't stop the best.
