Vick fires back at Ryan, Cowboys

When asked about Rob Ryan calling the Eagles the "all-hype team" earlier this week, Andy Reid made a hot dog eating joke, and Jeffrey Lurie refused to fire back.

But Michael Vick? Well, he had a response.

"I was mad about that," Vick said, during an interview with Mike Missanelli on 97.5 The Fanatic. "Sometimes my emotions do come into play and I felt like that was inappropriate. But he's gonna have to deal with us. And he’s going to have to find solutions just like everybody else. And we don’t talk. We go about our business the right way. Maybe we’ll make him eat his words. I hope he backs it up."

Vick agreed with Missanelli's notion that talking noise is fine among players, but a little over the top when coaches get involved.

"Players, because we have to be on the field, we on the gridiron. Coach, you on the sideline coaching," Vick said. "You don’t know what it’s like to be in this battle so I mean, the only thing you can do is coach, so coach."

Meanwhile, Ryan continued to express his confidence during an interview with Albert Breer of NFL Network.

"You can't talk noise if you don't have the players to back it up," Ryan said. "We always walk the walk. Anybody that knows a Ryan knows they walk the walk. We don't talk the talk, we walk it. Our guys are gonna be good, and we know it. So that ain't talkin'. That's just the (bleepin') way it is."

As I explained last week, Vick has become the spokesman of the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles. When reporters ask about DeSean Jackson's absence, Vick is the one who speaks up, as Reid and the front office brush the issue aside. And when Ryan takes a playful jab at the Eagles, it's Vick who fires back.

Perhaps what's most remarkable, though, is I get the feeling everyone in the organization is perfectly comfortable with Vick's new role. His teammates clearly follow him. And I think everyone from Reid to Joe Banner to Howie Roseman to Jeffrey Lurie is happy to have Vick as the voice of the franchise.

That reality shows the extent to which he's rehabbed his image since getting out of prison.

If you missed it earlier, I posted a couple of practice reports:

Philadelphia Eagles fans should be oh so proud. They have a dog killer who is a convicted felon as the spokesman for their team. These are the same fans that talked all the trash about Dallas when Michael Irvin got arrested. Funny how you change your tune when it is in your own back yard. So when Vick steps onto the field this season, picture him brutally killing the little red dog. Then tell me how you can be proud and support this team.

the little red dog.....WTF? okay "dogmom", you're either saying you yourself are a dog who has children, calling your kid(s) a dog, or referring to your pet as your child. Either way, how freakin' pathetic. In this country, you have the opportunity to reform yourself and have a 2nd chance at life. Don't get me started on all the athletes and everday folk who have gotten away with killing people. Then again, you're probabaly a wackoo that values animals lives more than your fellow humans. GET A LIFE!

Good for Mike! I'm glad he said what he said.F Dallas! The only thing not over hyped here, is the fact that Ryan has a nicer set of "Bombs" than Vick.

When Vince Young made his "dream team" remarks he was just following a pattern that new, enthusiastic guys seem to follow. I remember when K-Rod and JJ Putz came to the Mets. They both made ridiculous remarks about being "the team to beat" to try to upstage Jimmy Rollins. JJ bombed out and K-Rod flamed out. They are both gone not having been able to walk the walk. J-Roll however did walk the walk. Maybe in the back of their minds, newly acquired guys are 1) enthusiastic and 2) want to be seen immediately as a member of the team. I am sure there were a few Eagles who thought, "Oh, Man! Why did he have to put it THAT way?" [while admitting to themselves that they really are the dream team] Lurie said the right things afterward. I always felt that the year the Eagles finally win it all they are just going to have to overwhelm everyone the whole season, like those dominent Cowboy teams or those 49er teams. Or Steelers. Just blow everyone away wire to wire. Normally I only need two victories a year to get me through the season - both Giants games. Now I need 2 Super Bowls to shut my friends up.

Toad, MV has a Philly swagger, and we all know it. He is a player that will lay it all on the line, and we respect that. 2011/2012.....Go Eagles........could this really be the year??? If it is, all of you, even the Vick haters know we would replace Billy Penn with a MV statue.

Vick is a free agent recruiting machine. Every idiot free agent wants to hang with "Mike". This team is the most disgusting team of all time, led by a loser coach.

If this is Vick's team, what is Reid? This may be Andy's new strategy. If the Eagles fail AGAIN at the end of the year, everyone will say it's Vick's team that failed. Vick will be released and Reid will keep his job. The man has more lives than a cat.

The Ryans don't "walk the walk." They waddle the waddle.

There is more blubber in the Ryan family than in three whale pods. (For those of you in Dallas, a pod is a group of whales.)
