Sunday's free agency updates

What price did the Jaguars have to pay to land defensive end Aaron Kampman? Might Jeff Garcia return to the NFC East? A roundup of Sunday's free-agency moves.

I'll be in and out all day but will keep updating this post so check back for the latest buzz on the third day of free agency.

And if you missed it late last night, we blogged on Mike Bell and Hank Baskett, and two reports that say the Eagles have shown some level of interest in them.

Now on to today:

* An update on Aaron Kampman. According to Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union, the terms of his contract are four years, $26M, with $11M guaranteed. On the surface, it seems very comparable to the deal the Lions gave Kyle Vanden Bosch, which was reportedly four years, $26M with $10M in first-year guarantees. Julius Peppers' six-year, $91.5M deal with $42M guaranteed blew everyone out of the water.

* Giants backup David Carr is headed to San Francisco to join the 49ers. Ralph Vacchiano reports that Jeff Garcia is one of the options New York is expected to explore as an insurance policy for Eli Manning.

* Can you imagine how much more insane the rumor-following would have been this offseason if the Eagles were still in the market for a wide receiver? You remember last year when we linked up nuggets involving Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Chad Ochocinco, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and others. As you know by now, Boldin was dealt to the Ravens on Friday.

And the name now generating some buzz is Brandon Marshall. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Bengals have had some discussion about acquiring Marshall, a restricted free agent. Schefter also reported that Marshall spent today visiting with the Seahawks. This, of course, has nothing to do with the Eagles, but the Marshall situation will be an interesting to follow going forward.

* Colts free-agent cornerback Marlin Jackson is scheduled to visit the Eagles this week after he visits the Ravens, a league source tells Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post. The big question with Jackson is health. He tore the ACL in his left knee last season, sidelining him for the final 12 games of the regular season and the playoffs. The previous season, Jackson missed the Colts' final eight games after tearing the ACL in his right knee. Both injuries occurred during practices.

"He is rehabbing way ahead of schedule," Jackson's agent Michael Sullivan told ESPN.com via e-mail on Friday. "Will be able to participate in June OTAs. More than a dozen teams have called so far-still sorting them out. Probably take some visits next week."

Jackson is listed at 6 feet, 196 pounds. The Colts selected him in the first round (29th overall) of the 2005 draft. He will turn 27 in June.

* Jason Babin is scheduled to visit the Titans, according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reported on Friday that Babin was drawing interest from the Jaguars, Redskins and Broncos as well.

Babin showed flashes last season after the Eagles added him during training camp. He had a three-game stretch in the middle of the season where he notched 2.5 sacks. He was part of the regular defensive line rotation, but really did not help the 'D' get pressure on the quarterback down the stretch. Babin played 19 snaps in the Eagles' playoff loss to the Cowboys and did not have a sack after Week 9.

* ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Chiefs will get a visit from Thomas Jones on Monday. I have not seen Jones, who was released by the Jets last week, linked to any other teams.

* And as you likely know by now, the Jaguars and DE Aaron Kampman have agreed to terms, according to Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union.
