The Eagles' 45-19 win over the Jets, combined with the Redskins' 23-10 win over the Giants kept the Birds' playoff hopes alive for another week.
Here's a look at what needs to now happen for the Eagles to win the division:
- The Eagles need to finish the season 2-0 against the Cowboys (away) and Redskins (home).
- The Cowboys need to finish the season 0-2 against the Eagles (home) and Giants (away).
- The Giants need to lose to the Jets next week (technically away, but same stadium), but beat the Cowboys (home) in Week 17.
One other item of note: The Jets play the Giants at 1 p.m. next Saturday. The Eagles play the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. That means the Birds will know by kickoff whether they still have a shot at the division or not.
I know some of you have asked about the wild card. The Eagles were mathematically eliminated from that race when the Lions beat the Raiders this evening. Both the Lions and Falcons have nine wins. The best the Eagles can do is eight.
So it's the division or nothing.

If Bears win tomorrow Eagles will be eliminated from wild card also.. Bears would have eight wins..and own tiebreaker against Eagles. frank105- Actually Frank that's not true. If the Lions and Bears tie at 8-8, the Lions would eliminate the Bears before they ever get to a tie-break with the Eagles
SanDiego_Phils_fan - Eliminated also? If you've been eliminated once, I'm pretty certain that you can't be eliminated a second time.
- How can the Lions finish 8-8 when they already have 9 wins? Do they get a win taken away from them for bad behavior?
- i don't understand why fans cant want to rally around this team and have a chance at redemption. I blame the lockout for the late of OTA's, we are still "all in" next year with essentially the same team except losing steve smith(who didnt play), ronnie brown(DION LEWIS?) either asante or DCR (probs staying and will rebound being back on the outside hopefully) but then we can draft LBs and get this train rolling again.. as soon as the desean situation is settled either we draft or resign him i dont know but this is still a feared offensive team. We wanted to win multiple championships, so we lose one, there is still a huge opportunity next year, this team is built to play with the lead, lets ride this out and keep cheering for optimism for the rest of the year and next year. - LOL! "This team is built to play with a lead?"
Perhaps you missed it. We blew five 4th-quarter leads. Did you mean to say that this team is "built to lose a lead?" - You realize 31 other teams also had no OTA's. How is that an excuse?

San Diego Phils Fan: I think if Bears and Eagles both finish 8-8, the Bears would definitly in the playoffs, instead of the Eagles..regardless of what the Lions record is. frank105
Of course Lions have already won 8 games...and they should win at least 1 more out of their last 3 games, which would also eliminate the Eagles from the wild card. frank105
when you have a 3 team tie it comes down to conference record i thought... motorboat
This season's over. Accept it people. p-diddy
I know most people say it's wrong to root for your team to lose, but I'm hoping for a better draft pick. And I'm also rooting for someone in the organization to actually take advantage of that draft pick and obtain a stud defender. Penfold18

This is what the tiebreaker scenario is between three teams tied with the same record--
1. Head to head if each team has played the other--in the case of a Lions-Bears-Eagles tie, this wouldn't apply since the Eagles didn't play the Lions.
2. Next tiebreaker is the same one that breaks the tie inside the division--in this case, the Lions would eliminate the Bears based on their 4-2 division record over the Bears 2-4.
3. That would leave the Lions and Eagles--with the Eagles getting the WC spot over the Lions by virtue of a 6-6 NFC record vs what would be 5-7. bobbyuk
Please lose. Draft a QB. 4thand10
