Updated Eagles playoff scenarios
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
The Eagles' 45-19 win over the Jets, combined with the Redskins' 23-10 win over the Giants kept the Birds' playoff hopes alive for another week.
Here's a look at what needs to now happen for the Eagles to win the division:
- The Eagles need to finish the season 2-0 against the Cowboys (away) and Redskins (home).
- The Cowboys need to finish the season 0-2 against the Eagles (home) and Giants (away).
- The Giants need to lose to the Jets next week (technically away, but same stadium), but beat the Cowboys (home) in Week 17.
One other item of note: The Jets play the Giants at 1 p.m. next Saturday. The Eagles play the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. That means the Birds will know by kickoff whether they still have a shot at the division or not.
I know some of you have asked about the wild card. The Eagles were mathematically eliminated from that race when the Lions beat the Raiders this evening. Both the Lions and Falcons have nine wins. The best the Eagles can do is eight.
So it's the division or nothing.

GET real. It's OVER for the geniuses who so called manage the Eagles. Their ignorance and arrogance has resulted in complete failure and if they bring back Andy next year they are absolutely telling the city of Philadelphia and all Eagles fans ... STFU. shawnmac
Start Cliff Lee. He can be our Time Tebow. markfordham

As a season ticket holder it is very disappointing to watch a team give up big plays on missed tackles, missed assignments and a seeming lack of effort and then hear Andy with the same explanation after each game (got to do better job, my responsibility, give the other team credit, etc). In a lock out year it was a mistake to re-vamp the coaching staff and D-Line and O-Line approach. Castillo the person is trying hard but on a team of soft tacklers like Asante, inexperienced linebackers, etc. he was doomed from the beginning. It is going to be chilly today and I will bale on them in the 3rd quarter again if they go through the motions again like they did vs. NE. If the team doesn't quit, I won't either. Problem is this team looks like it quit from the get go. Philliesguy
What is the big deal? The Eagles don't deserve to be in the playoffs with the way they played. Add up all the dumb mistakes, the numerous turnovers, bad clock management, horrible draft choices and a DC and head coach that don't have a clue and you can easily kiss this season goodbye. fanup
If the Gianst lose to the Redskins, this is going to get incredibly interesting. MikeP
Andy always says it's his responsibility. Well make him accountable and FIRE him for this mess! Lil Ratman
If Lions beat Raiders today....Lions and Atlanta would be wild card leaders......and the Eagles are ELIMINATED from wild card... frank105

Brenden, so you really think that our offense is "feared" by other teams? Have you watched any games lately? Our offense seems to be getting less potent week by week. No teams with a winning record are afraid of the EAGLES anymore. If you're smart you'll reconsider buying those season tickets next year and probably the year after also. OldBill1934
This season has become the SIXERS of the last decade. Win JUST enough to keep yammering about playoff chances that will never happen while continuing to play old players who will be cut in March, not seeing what young guys can do and lipping in the draft.
You want the ACTUAL chances of the Eagles making the playoffs?

FYI... a Bears win today does not eliminate the Eagles. There is a scenario in which the Eagles would win a tiebreak if they, the Cowboys, the Lions and Bears all finish 8-8. Again, almost certainly not happening, but just wanted to clarify. - SK skapadia
This team does have talent. I believe it should have a much better record also. Unfortunately it seems like they are not using their talent the best way. If you look at what Coach Fox did in Denver with Tebow you will see. Tebow is a terrible NFL QB. They are winning because what little talent he has Coach Fox is using to the teams advantage. Coach Reid has a lot of talent and wants his talent to play to his schemes. The DB's he has are not made for the D he has the team playing. McNabb and Vick are not West Coast QB's and yet he tries to turn them into one. Coach Reid is a good coach, he has shown he can build a winner. I don't think he should be allowed anywhere near the room during draft day and someone needs to tell him that maybe, just maybe he needs to play the talent in schemes that they do best. Maybe being a little flexible isn't a bad thing. Maybe Coach Reid should check his ego a little. There is enough talent with the Birds here and a good draft could turn this team around in one year. golson@florida
if the eagles lose then we are eliminated from the playoffs. it wouldn't matter what the giants or anyone else does. NovaWildcats36
Jets will end all this playoff talk today. We missed the playoffs when Castillo was made DC. coloradoeagle
