Instant reaction: Booker, Buckley, TE situation

Just saw the list of cuts for the Eagles. Some quick impressions:

** I'm glad they kept Eldra Buckley and admitted their mistake with Lorenzo Booker. Buckley clearly outplayed him in training camp and during the preseason. The knock on Buckley was he couldn't produce as a receiver, but it's something he can continue to work on. And he showed he can be an asset on special teams. So they gave up a fourth-round pick for Booker and it didn't work out. No need to be stubborn and and try to force it at this point.

** Seven wide receivers, huh? You have to wonder if it will stay that way for long. The Eagles kept Reggie Brown, Hank Baskett and Brandon Gibson. Throughout the preseason, everyone (including yours truly) has speculated on which guy would be the odd man out. And it turns out none of them are headed anywhere -- yet. Don't be surprised if the Eagles aren't done making moves. Could be more coming this week.

** Speaking of which, Michael Vick on the exempt list? Really? I can't imagine that is going to last. You have to have the guy on the practice field and get him ready to contribute when he's ready to return in Week 3. The guess is that they'll continue to shop A.J. Feeley and hopefully add Vick to the roster in the near future.

** ESPN's Adam Schefter Tweeted earlier today that a Feeley to the Patriots deal, which has been rumored, will not happen. And it appears that he's right on. New England did make some moves at tight end, but the Eagles were not involved. The Patriots acquired tight end Michael Matthews from the Giants. They also released TE Alex Smith and sent David Thomas to the Saints for a seventh-round pick, according to reports.

** The Raiders released former Eagles QB Jeff Garcia.

** Full list of Eagles cuts: Booker, Danny Amendola, Eugene Bright, Tank Daniels, Kyle Eckel, Paul Fanaika, Josh Gaines, Curtis Gatewood, Mike Gibson, Jack Ikegwuonu, Dan Klecko, Reshard Langford, Marcus Mailei, Rob Myers, Dallas Reynolds, Bryan Smith, Matt Schobel, Matt Wilhelm, Trae Williams, Willie Williams.

** Amendola did everything he could to make the team. Rooting for the guy to catch on somewhere.

** Who says the final preseason game doesn't matter? Curtis played his way on to the roster as the second tight end behind Brent Celek.

** Eckel was a good story, but Leonard Weaver is a Pro Bowl caliber fullback.

** The 2008 draft is shaping up to be an interesting one. The Eagles cut Smith and Ikegwuonu, third- and fourth-round picks, respectively. DeSean Jackson was a great pick, Quintin Demps will be counted on to start, and Joe Mays will be in the mix at linebacker.

** OK, that's it from here. Chime in on what you mamke of the Eagles' roster moves.
