T.J. hasn't heard from Bengals
Wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh said he hasn't yet heard from the Bengals about a contract, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I really don’t know. I can’t speak for them but I haven’t heard from them which would lead me to assume that I’m out of there,” Houshmandzadeh said. Earlier today, we recapped Houshmandzadeh's comments from his interview on ESPN 950 with Mike Missanelli. Houshmandzadeh indicated that Philadelphia might be a good fit for him. As we pointed out in the earlier post, Houshmandzadeh's comments should be taken with a grain of salt. He's making the rounds as a pending free agent and even went on a Chicago radio station yesterday and spoke highly of Rex Grossman. The Daily News' Les Bowen drove this point home in an earlier post today on Eagletarian. As for the Bengals, there is still a chance they could franchise Houshmandzadeh for $9.88 million, but according to The Enquirer, Marvin Lewis indicated last week that he'd rather not franchise anyone. NFL Network's Adam Schefter previously reported the same thing. Here's the timeline you should be aware of. Teams have from now until Feb. 19 to designate players with the franchise tag. In fact, the Patriots did just that earlier today with quarterback Matt Cassel. Meanwhile, the free-agent signing period begins Feb. 27. In yesterday's interview, Houshmandzadeh said the Eagles know how to get in touch with him and his agent, although by rules they are not allowed to contact him just yet. In The Enquirer article, Houshmandzadeh indicated he may have some destinations already in mind. "You can’t talk to teams until the 27th, but I have some idea who might be interested. You have to take a look at a team and its situation and get a feel for things,” Houshmandzadeh said

- It's obvious that you don't know anything about football, Lonelyidiot. In 2006 he has 90 catches for 1081 yds, 12.0 yds per catch and 9 TDs, in 2007 112 catches for 1143, 10.4 yrds per catch and 12 TDs and last year 92 catches for 904 yards, 9.8 yds and only 4. But who was throwing the ball to him? Fitzgerald. Who? Oh, and BTW, he had a nice reciever on the other side (Ocho Cinco) that catches a lots of footballs himself. So he had to share. Go suck on your finger! For his career his avg. 11.4 yds per catch. Also, Dawkins said about #5 that he doesn't need to change. You even post it a stupid comments as usual on that blog. EL Zorro
Personally, I think another WR IS needed. I was high on Reggie Brown developing, he has showed flashes and has athleticism. But it is very clear that in the NFL, you've got to have guys on the outside that force your opponent to pay extra attention. You can't tell me that this team wouldn't be more consistent and dangerous with an Anquan Boldin, TJ Houshmandzadeh, or a (mentally locked in) Braylon Edwards added to it. The difference with TJ is that he's worked himself into being a top target, it wasn't given to him a la your typical 1st round pick. He's a slightly bigger Hines Ward to me with better speed, is tough, he works hard inside or out and has very dependable hands. And what you get with a known playmaking WR is more space for Jackson, Curtis and whoever plays TE to operate as well as for Westbrook and the slashing RB taking carries away from him (hopefully CBuck). Lurie's not cheap, Reid isn't shy about adding talent when he sees the value to his team. We'll see who he's impressed with. KNuff
QB change would be unwise and is even less likely to happen than us getting TJ or Boldin. rwright611
we can grab TJ and Boldin, sweetness abechief- Thanks KNuff. EL Zorro
