Stallworth releases statement; L.J. Smith update

Wide receiver Donte Stallworth has released a statement today pertaining to his involvement in last week's fatal accident, which killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes.

Here's what he said, per clevelandbrowns.com:

"My family and I are grief stricken over the tragic accident which occurred Saturday on Miami Beach where Mario Reyes sadly lost his life.My thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes family during this incredibly difficult time. Unfortunately, since this accident is still under police investigation, I cannot comment further on the matter at this time."

I wrote about some of the details of the incident earlier this week.

According to the Associated Press, police are waiting on results from a toxicology report before releasing more details.

L.J. Smith update

And an unrelated note on L.J. Smith and the Baltimore Ravens.

Per Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun, don't expect an official announcment to come today. Apparently, Smith's physical is scheduled for Thursday. If he passes, the Ravens will sign him to a one-year, $1.5 million deal, according to Hensley.
