Klecko, Feeley and more

Update: Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and Chicago Sun Times reports on Twitter that the Eagles have cut defensive tackle Dan Klecko.

The Birds added the Temple product before the 2008 season and tried him at fullback before switching him back to defensive tackle. In limited action, he had six tackles and a pair of sacks.

Klecko has three rings, two with the Patriots and one with the Colts.

He's played six NFL seasons and is 28 years old.

From earlier:

Huge weekend around the football community.

Last night we launched Rally, our new high school sports product. As you may know, I'm in Chicago on vacation, but tremendous job by the, Inquirer and Daily News folks with the site last night.

And of course today is the first college football Saturday. You know games are about to start when Lee Corso starts making ridiculous statements with his Dixon Ticonderoga No. 2 pencil in hand.

Finally, by 6 p.m. tonight, NFL rosters have to be cut down to 53. I will be on the Chicago River when the moves are announced, but will do my best to Tweet from there.

Speaking of Twitter, thanks to all the followers who chimed in with what to do in the Windy City this weekend. Had a great dinner at a place called Quartinos last night and enjoyed the sights of Lake Michigan.

Now on to some news and links:

** ESPN's Adam Schefter Tweets that a rumored A.J. Feeley to the Patriots deal will not happen. He says he's not sure which side is reluctant to pull the trigger, but a trade is not going down. Many assumed that the deal would make sense, since New England needs a backup QB and the Eagles need a tight end.

** Rod Hood can't seem to catch on anywhere. The former Eagles cornerback was released by the Browns and signed with the Bears Tuesday. But he's already been released by Chicago.

** The biggest name tight end to be released so far is the Cardinals' Leonard Pope. However, according to reports in Arizona, he was cut because of his lack of abilities as a blocker.
