Rosenhaus: There's interest in T.O.

POSTED: Friday, March 6, 2009, 12:17 PM

Yesterday we wrote about Terrell Owens and the apparent lack of interest in the 35-year-old receiver.

Today, Drew Rosenhaus (your favorite, I know) says that's not the case.

“These are several teams that are interested in signing Terrell,” Rosenhaus told profootballtalk.com.  “I have been in negotiations with these teams.  I will not identify these teams at this time.”

Rosenhaus added that he and T.O. expect to have a deal in place by next week, if not sooner.

I've seen most experts take the stance that Owens' skills have significantly deteriorated. And while I agree that he's not the receiver he was in the past, 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns is nothing to sneeze at.

Plus, consider Owens' personality. Isn't this the type of situation where he excels? You all remember the Super Bowl. He is king of the Nobody thinks I can do it...I'll prove them wrong mentality we see all over sports nowadays.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that he's a distraction, disruption, etc. But would you really be surprised if he put together a Pro Bowl year in 2009 wherever he lands? Maybe he has just one more great year left? Training in the offseason, reminding himself of all the teams that didn't want him?

I'm just saying.

Some other notes:

** Bob Glauber of Newsday writes about rumors that the Giants could trade for Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards. I wonder what the reaction in this town would be if that move went down.

** In case you missed it from this morning, Scott Wright of draftcountdown.com answered his weekly questions, including one on whether Beanie Wells would be a good fit with the Eagles.

** "My worst break-up was with Stacy. It was a Sunday morning, we were reading the paper, and I said 'Oh my God, I think the Eagles could clinch the NFC East.' And she said that...we're done."

Classic.

If you have no clue what I'm talking about.

The Eagles should publically show interest in T.O. and then McNabb should say things like, "I love TO, I'm his quarterback, man..." with tears in his eyes. Then when TO shows interest, McNabb should call up Graham Bensinger at Syracuse and tell him that he thinks that the Eagles would be better off with Whitten than TO. When TO says it's a black on black crime, McNabb should get Fletcher Smith to hold a news conference where he answers all questions with, "Next Question" and then finally... write an autobiography and then say that he was misquoted.

This is very sad man this guys is gonna play on one of two teams which both have no shot at anything? And how is that gonna work...hmmm lets see. Should be calling out Jamarcus Russell by week 2 of preseason, then what cut by week 3 of preseason. Why you say? 35 years old and lost at least a step maybe 2 stone hands and a stone for a brain

T.O. lands in the AFC west, and not with the Raiders :-)

Sign him to a one year contract and then tell him he's not playing. Then let him know that you've engaged a reality TV show producer to follow him around all year. The Eagles could make some quick bucks and entertain us all year.

Why is Rosenhouse even talking to the media if he has "several" (i.e., more than two) interested? He's a scumbag - who would believe him? T.O. has blown up three clubhouses now, so any owner that signs him deserves what happens. I don't care how good he is, or how much he has left, it ain't worth the risk and the trouble. Let him rot.

The Eagles should offer T.O. $2 million for one year. Make the offer public too, just to mess with him.

TO would be great for 1 year. Lets bring him in. Are we really close to winning a SB without him? Imagine actually getting to keep our 1st round picks AND get a WR who will be happy wilth less than the 10 Mill a year it would take to make Bouldin happy. If we structure the TO contract the right way, we can minimize the risk.

Yeah, and Boras had multiple teams after Manny too. Only the Raiders are dumb enough to fall for that one.

Sheil is refering to a quote from the TV show "the Office" that aired last night. The loser from the show was talking about his worst break up in which he was dumped by his ex fiance. The show if you dont follow is about an office in Scranton, PA. It was kinda of a shot at the Eagles but something that definately could have been said. It was a clasic line for an Eagles fan to hear since it is national show not a local show. Lets talk with someone regarding a wide receiver, pleaseeeeee! Never thought I'd even consider TO, but what do we have besides D-jax? Just cut TO if he is no good in camp or the season. What do you have to loose except a few mil? Were aprox 40 mil under salary cap now so WTF?

ag The knock against TO is that he was 2nd in league in dropped passes last year. Edwards was first, so who cares if the Giants get him?

as much as i think he's a POS, he has not shown any signs of deterioration. Don't know what guy these so called 'experts' are watching. he's easily got 3 more years. with that sad, F him. I hope he plays somewhere and loses next year.
