Rob Ryan: Eagles are all hype

Rob Ryan surely remembers how good the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry was when his dad was coaching the Birds.

So perhaps it should come as no surprise that he's doing his part to get everyone fired up now that he's in the NFC East.

Ryan, who took over as the Cowboys defensive coordinator this offseason, took a shot at the new-look Eagles, according to Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"I've got three bullies over there waiting for Thursday," Ryan said of his defensive line addition. "These are proven players, and that's what we need. I don't know if we win the all-hype team, I think that might have gone to somebody else, but we're going to beat their ass when we play them."

Ryan, of course, did not name the Eagles, but given all the headlines the Birds have made with the Dream Team and Miami Heat references, it's hard to imagine he was referring to anyone else.

One of the new Eagles apparently heard about Ryan's comments and responded. Here's a Tweet from Cullen Jenkins:

Talk is cheap. Let them talk. We are focused here and I could care less. We are worried about ourselves n getting better. He must be nervous

The truth is the Eagles should get used to having a target on their back. They are going to be a popular Super Bowl pick nationally and have raised expectations with their recent signings.

As for the Cowboys, they come to Philadelphia in Week 8 (Oct. 30), and the Birds travel to Dallas in Week 16 for a Christmas Eve matchup.

It is so annoying when people say they "could care less." That means they care, at least a little. Say you "couldn't care less." Babin's comment about comparing the Eagles to the Heat is just downright embarrassing.

makes you wonder if he actually watched the finals, or came up with his own ending.

Can't say I get bothered too much by what people write here. This is a place for all to be heard and a nice feature in the information age. I will say that I do get a little annoyed when I read comments from numbskulls correcting the spelling or grammar in other comments or in the articles. It's a SPORTS section, not english class, and it's here for fun and entertainment. I just want to read some information and opinions, as long as i can understand it, the form don't matter. What I mean to say is, I could care less. Don't worry, phillyinsd, we all know you're smart now.

Ditto Tesla on the grammar stuff. The Miami Heat stuff is ludicrous. Win or not they did end up with 2 of the 5 or 6 best players in the league. Bosh was always over-rated in that scenario. But the Eagles didn't come close that. They signed 1 superstar who happens to be 31 years old, playing a position where that age is past his true prime. I am not saying he is done but it isn't signing Lebron at the start of his prime. Babin? 80% chance he never notches 10 sacks again in his career.(how's Burgess doing?) and he is not even a Pro Bowl talent no less a superstar. Traded for DRC who most scouts stated that he had a terrible 2010. Next: Cullen Jenkins generally rated as around the 30th best free agent this year. The rest are back-ups with big names and missing games(Brown, Young, harris) It was a nice off season but it doesn't even get into the area code of the Miami Heat who will most likely win multiple championships when it is all said and done.

he was DC for arguably the best D ever in chicago and a super bowl winner in which he was carried off the field because of how important he was to that team. i'd say he did enough to back it up.
