Rob Ryan: Eagles are all hype
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
Rob Ryan surely remembers how good the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry was when his dad was coaching the Birds.
So perhaps it should come as no surprise that he's doing his part to get everyone fired up now that he's in the NFC East.
Ryan, who took over as the Cowboys defensive coordinator this offseason, took a shot at the new-look Eagles, according to Clarence E. Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
"I've got three bullies over there waiting for Thursday," Ryan said of his defensive line addition. "These are proven players, and that's what we need. I don't know if we win the all-hype team, I think that might have gone to somebody else, but we're going to beat their ass when we play them."
Ryan, of course, did not name the Eagles, but given all the headlines the Birds have made with the Dream Team and Miami Heat references, it's hard to imagine he was referring to anyone else.
One of the new Eagles apparently heard about Ryan's comments and responded. Here's a Tweet from Cullen Jenkins:
Talk is cheap. Let them talk. We are focused here and I could care less. We are worried about ourselves n getting better. He must be nervous
The truth is the Eagles should get used to having a target on their back. They are going to be a popular Super Bowl pick nationally and have raised expectations with their recent signings.
As for the Cowboys, they come to Philadelphia in Week 8 (Oct. 30), and the Birds travel to Dallas in Week 16 for a Christmas Eve matchup.

Ryan looks like he hasn't bathed in a while. joe_fan
Are those sagging breasts or his stomach? joe_fan
Maybe being pregnant has affected his thought process! Geno D
he is going to steal the show during the first eagles/cowboys matchup when that alien bursts out of his stomach. Evil Overlord
caption for the picture above:
"Will you get me a triple bacon sandwich with extra mayo? PLEASE? And don't forget the diet coke. I don't want to get fat." Evil Overlord- Hahaha. And when the player walks away, Ryan yells back at him and says "You know what, make it two triple bacon sandwiches with extra mayo"
Forza Azzurri - Yeeeehaaa. Yes and "oh and while you're at it, double that double order for my not so li'l friend (my big fat obscene belly that is sometimes mistaken for sagging breasts)." oldfriar
If there is any team which is "all hype" it is the Cowboys. The Eagles will go 10-6 and lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs...if nothing else, Andy Reid is consistently well above mediocre, but never stellar. kelprod2- If trophies were handed out out for best teams on paper, the Eagles might be winners....however, here in the real world, the Eagles are chokers with the only empty trophy case in the NFC East and in Philadelphia.
Who let the dogs out???? - Lumbergh's a latent homosapien. Stay in Dallas and get back in your sandbox, Lumbergh. Lumbergh, isn't that the cheese that stinks. Close enough... oldfriar
Man, these Ryan boys sure use their mouths for more than just turning themselves into fat slobs.
Funny to see that a Cowboys Coach is making snyde comments about hype. For the past five years the Cowpokes have been the most over-hyped team on the planet.
Of course, now with a fat slob named Ryan on their sidelines, the over-hype on Dallas will only worsen as he runs his mouth.
Too bad these Ryan boys don't run their teams as well as they do their jaws. montgomeryhopkins
