Report: Westbrook to visit 'Skins
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
Eagles fans could see another familiar face in a Redskins uniform next season, according to a report.
Sources tell ESPN's Chris Mortensen that Brian Westbrook will visit with the Redskins Wednesday. Per the report, Donovan McNabb has been pushing the 'Skins to consider his former teammate.
The Daily News' Les Bowen reported a couple weeks ago that Westbrook had passed his physical with the Rams and was considering whether to continue his career in St. Louis.
The Redskins' roster is filled with veteran running backs: Clinton Portis turns 29 in September and is entering his ninth season. Larry Johnson is 30 and entering his eighth season. And Willie Parker is 29 and entering his seventh season.
Westbrook turns 31 in September and has eight seasons under his belt.
His brother, Byron, is a defensive back/special teams player for the 'Skins.
Update:
Nice nugget here from the Washington Post's Rick Maese on Twitter:
Brian Westbrook and Bruce Allen were previously skedded to speak to HS students at Springarn High on Wed. That the two would now meet to discuss Westbrook's services sure sounds like matter of convenience to me. Team coulda met with him at any point in past couple months
Celek's take on DeSean/McNabb
Eagles tight end Brent Celek did a live chat today with NFL.com. He was asked about The DeSean Jackson/Donovan McNabb back and forth. Here's his response:
With regards to DeSean remarks, I think they were taken out of context. I feel like he was misunderstood. I feel like all he was trying to do was back our QB in Kevin, and it got skewed somewhat to be taking a shot at Donovan, which I don't think he was.

the skins have the greatest backfield ever. now lets call doc, marty and gas up the dolorean and head back to 2007. go skins dexmagee- I see a lot of carries in Johnson's future. the others are too injury prone to make it through the season.
That combo of RB's would have been great in 2004 azsixerfan
are any of you really shocked? you do realize who the coach is in Washington now right? EaglesBleedMoney
When did the Redskins hire Ed Wade? pmoehrle5
Dear Dan Snyder - you are brilliant! mcnabb and westy would be great additions to your current roster. these moves would be reminscent of past 'skins blockbuster moves under your watchful eye - jeff george, dana stubblefield, bruce smith, irving fryar, mark carrier, adam archuleta, joe gibbs. rememba those? i think we can all agree that went well for you! taking other team's throw-aways and hiring a Nascar team owner makes it seem like you're playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers, my boy ;) i love you and what you have done for my legacy. sincerely, the ghost of jack kent cooke Rocky_Ballbutter

this is interesting - McNabb goes to Washington and want's his best RB who's bailed him out of many situations in the past - despite his pre-disposition to concussions I bet McNabb will push for them to sign him - that will make McN look good on the field having Westy there to catch those passes when he can't reach the receivers - good luck with that!!! Noooooooooo! Tom Man is right - 5 wants the guy that made him look good all those years. Richard Saunders

Sheil, i generally visit your blog because i want an unbiased opinion about how the players are playing, the status of the roster, etc. You've done a great job with that. Please resist the urge to give us any more "updates" on this whole Desean/McNabb thing, though. Its nothing more than gossip, and its beneath you. Thanks. duder
Where is Celek's take on DeSean? BillF1sher
So now we're asking Celek what he thinks about what DeSean said about what McNabb said about what DeSean said? Geez, give it a rest already. Enough with this nonsense about what players think about what another player said. JimG
Amen JimG. This town, this paper, this media needs to stop looking for controversy. It's a sad old story. I would much rather a paper full of people posting their own comments than the same sorry bunch of reporters that find some kind of controversy in anything that is said. Give it a rest. You wonder why US FANS get a bad rap...maybe it has something to do with the media in this city...just maybe. EagleBeliever
