Updated (4:41): Vick is eligible to play Week 3, according to commissioner Roger Goodell. Here is more from the Daily News and Inquirer.
Updated (12:46 p.m.): ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on TV that Michael Vick and commissioner Roger Goodell met this morning at the Eagles' team hotel in New Jersey.
From earlier:
Michael Vick will meet with commissioner Roger Goodell today to learn when he'll be reinstated, according to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times.
Several reports surfaced in the past 48 hours, indicating that Goodell would announce his decision before Saturday when teams have to cut their rosters to 53.
Dan Graziano of Fanhouse reported last night that Vick would be reinstated immediately, making him eligible for Week 1 against the Panthers.
Farmer calls that scenario "entirely possible."
Before his debut against the Jaguars last week, Vick was in bankruptcy court. And now today, it appears he'll have another important meeting before the Birds take on the Jets.

On the surface, tonight's game can be classified as the least important of the four preseason contests. But there's plenty to watch for. Most notably, players who are on the bubble get one last chance to prove they belong on the roster. It may seem insignificant, but for several of these guys, playing in the NFL has been a dream since childhood. They busted their tails at Lehigh, making mistakes, listening to coaches and doing everything they could to prove they belong. For some, Saturday will be a great day. For others, a disappointing one.
In other words, try telling players like Jack Ikegwuonu, Bryan Smith, Kyle Eckel and Eldra Buckley that tonight's game is meaningless.
We'll be live chatting it all at 7 p.m.

Ron Jaworski and Jon Gruden were given an over-under of 10 wins for the Eagles today on SportsCenter. Both took the over.

The league gets stranger and more unpredictable with each passing day. The Bucs today fired offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski. They just hired him in January. The Chiefs fired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey earlier this week. That's one thing you have to give Andy Reid credit for. When coaches leave the Eagles, it's usually to move on to bigger and better things. And they always continue to have a great relationship with Reid. The only possible exception I can think of is assistant Otis Smith who was let go in June. No one's gotten to the bottom of that one yet.

Another great episode of Hard Knocks last night. Chad Ochocinco comes off as 10 times more likeable on the show than he did previously. I'm man enough to admit it. I wish I had him on my fantasy team.
On another note, I'm stunned by Marvin Lewis' post-game speeches. I know that this might be his last chance to get on track in Cincinnati, and he wants to show his team that he's serious, but if you take it to that level in the preseason, how do you raise it another notch in the regular season, say if your team starts 0-3?
I guess all that work he's been doing off the field, to bring awareness to the cruelty of dog fighting and going into the community to work to put an end to it, has paid off for him. Oh wait, he hasn't done anything off the field? I guess that's just for speeches the day after he signs and not actually intended to be put into practice. Gary Varsho

Dude - The Eagles are still in training camp and put in full days nearly every day. He just got his bankruptcy ruling one week ago for crying out loud. Once the season starts, those Monday and Tuesdays are the days Vick would most likely be doing the work he's supposed to. As I've said to others, judge slowly. I agree that Vick has a lot to do to reshape his image and reputation. But at least try to be at least a little realistic if not reasonable. Oh wait, this is Philly. My bad. Skaters! WatchOut4DirtyRollerSk8rs- Gary Varsho, be patient. The Humane Society has put their name on his forgiveness. I’m sure there are plans in the works. Just remember, Vick does have a job to do. The better he performs on the field, the more influence he will have off it…I’m watching this just like you.
What happened to Rory Segrest? steverawthar

Not sure how I want this to go. Have tix for game 1 and not sure if Eagles better off with or without Vick, at least at the beginning of the year. I wasn't impressed with what I saw in game 3. Wadaya all think? tpizza
I thought Lurie said he needed to be "proactive" or he won't be on the team. According to this paper, he's had time to go out and wine and dine in the city, but not for community service. Gary Varsho

yeah that was a good hard knocks. loved the commentary on Jennifer Aniston, and I had to agree with Chad. It is a good show, glad I was watching it without the kids since it was F this and F that when Marvin was going on his locker room tirade. Love the behind the scenes looks and the young kids - just job hunting, awesome. FlyEAGLES_GA
I do donate, adopt, foster, Dierte.. Why don't you get off your knees and stop opening wide for Vick? Gary Varsho
He hasn't gotten out of camp yet, give him a break, what, he isn't supposed to eat! You guys are really funny! Can't see any reason he wouldn't be reinstated now, why does he have to be punished twice? He'll do his community service stuff. I don't like what went on any more than anyone else but if he isn't sincere it will come out, for now give the man the benefit of the doubt, just sayin'... FireChief
gary, you are clearly a very immature person so i am not going to take much time to explain this to you, but you need to relax and let this man live his life.. I also am a dog lover i have 3 dogs two of which were saved from shelters.. I think what vick did was beyond a disgrace.. with that said i am going to give him some time to get his life together before i blast him for not doing anything proactive in the comunnity... I understand your frustration but he is a football player.. dont go asking him to dogsit but let him play football and get on with your life.. bleed green forever
