Report: Eagles work out three RBs
As if determined to prove that there really is no offseason in the NFL, the Eagles worked out three running backs just days after their season ended against the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Adam Caplan of Scout.com, the Birds worked out DeDe Dorsey, Dwayne Wright and a third, unnamed player this week.
If Dorsey's name sounds familiar to you, it's probably for one of two reasons.
He played in 16 games over two seasons from 2007-2008 with the Cincinnati Bengals. In '07, he carried 21 times for 183 yards, including a 45-yard carry. He also blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown that season. The year before, he was a member of the Colts team that won the Super Bowl.
The other reason you may know of him is Hard Knocks. Dorsey was part of one of the key positional battles at running back during last summer's HBO series. He survived cuts on the show, was inactive for the Bengals' first game and then released.
That took him to the UFL, where Dorsey played for the Las Vegas Locomotives, finishing second in the league rushing with 369 yards and averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
He reportedly has had workouts for the Rams and Browns, but didn't catch on with either team during the season.
Dorsey, 25, is 5-foot-10, 205 pounds.
Wright, meanwhile, was a 2007 fourth-round pick by the Bills out of Fresno State. He played in 14 games for Buffalo, rushing 29 times for 94 yards. He spent camp with the Giants last summer before being cut. Wright is listed at 5-foot-11, 228 pounds.
Divisional round picks
CARDINALS (+7) at Saints: Looking forward to this one. If Kurt Warner completes 80 percent of his passes, can the Cardinals still lose by seven? Probably. I just wouldn't bet on it.
COLTS (-6.5) vs. Ravens: When I spent 2.5 years in Baltimore, I learned that football fans there will never forgive or forget the Colts for leaving town and heading to Indy. But that won't matter much in this one. The Ravens impressed last week, but Joe Flacco has no chance of keeping up with Peyton Manning. Take Indy to cover.
COWBOYS (+2.5) at Vikings: Dallas did not do it with smoke and mirrors the last two weeks. The Cowboys did it with talent, and more specifically, talent up front. If the Vikings can find a way to get to Tony Romo, which the Eagles did not, they can certainly move on. I just think the Cowboys are playing with a confidence they haven't had in a decade. The one thing that scares me is the kicking game.
CHARGERS (-7) vs. Jets: I like San Diego big. Too much talent. And the Jets' win last week over the Bengals was probably the least impressive of the wild-card round.
