Report: Eagles work out WR Sinorice Moss

POSTED: Friday, January 7, 2011, 9:04 AM

The Eagles are a couple days away from a win-or-go-home matchup with the Green Bay Packers, but that doesn't mean they're done tweaking their roster.

According to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com, the Birds worked out wide receiver Sincorice Moss this week.

Moss, 27, was a second-round pick by the Giants in 2006. He spent four seasons with New York, appearing in 37 games and starting two. Moss (listed at 5-8) has 39 career receptions for 421 yards.

As Caplan points out, the Eagles could be looking at him as a return man. Moss returned 33 kicks for 465 yards with the Giants for an average of 19.4. He also returned 11 punts in '09, averaging 6.7 yard per return.

The Eagles signed Gerard Lawson a couple weeks ago, and he's expected to return kicks on Sunday. Bobby April said DeSean Jackson would most likely handle punt return duties.

The Birds currently have five wide receivers on their roster: Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper and Chad Hall. In recent weeks (not including the Cowboys game), all five players had been active. Cooper has re-established himself as the fourth wide receiver though, with Hall contributing primarily on special teams.

On Thursday night, I posted the latest installment of What they're saying about the Eagles. A lot of love for the Packers from the national media.

Have to be looking at him as a return man. With Maclin and Jackson on the team, a fifth receiver would be more in the style of Cooper or Avant. But it's a good goal to have Jackson return only one punt per game.

Andy still dealing with decision to cut Amendola to the practice squad in 2009 in favor of keeping Reggie Brown on the roster.

Harrison and/or Buckley should return kickoffs. Macklin and Jackson can handle the punt returns during the playoffs.
