Report: Eagles to work out West Virginia OT

The Eagles will conduct a private workout with West Virginia offensive tackle Selvish Capers in Morgantown this week, a source tells Chris Steuber of scout.com.

Capers (6-4, 308) began his college career as a tight end so it's not surprising that he performed well in the athletic testing at the combine. He ran a 5.14 40-yard dash (sixth among OL) and also tested well in the vertical jump and the broad jump.

He was a three-year starter at West Virginia, but the draft pundits seem to be split on where he'll play in the NFL. Steuber says Capers has the size and athleticism to play left tackle. NFL.com says he probably projects as a right tackle. And Wes Bunting of the National Football Post has him ranked as the 16th-best guard.

In case you missed it, yesterday I published a list of reported Eagles draft visits and workouts. I'll update that same post in the coming weeks so be sure to keep checking back.

A hungry DeSean?

From DeSean Jackson on Twitter this morning:

Attention:plz its a public announcement I am in motion 2 get this done bac 2 philly for workouts I'm tryn WIN a SUPERBOWL Im HUNGRY for it 2

Meanwhile, Shawn Andrews is back tweeting under the name MrRandom73. That hiatus didn't last long, huh?

In case you didn't notice when the Eagles acquired him a couple weeks ago, new defensive end Darryl Tapp is also on Twitter.

And finally, pretty much everyone has been asked for their Donovan McNabb opinion in the last five days. We'll round those thoughts up a little later.

if I was familiar w/ the world of twitter, DJax's tweet might of gotten me hyped. but like they said in 48 Hours- "I don't know what you're talking about...no seriously, we can't understand what he's saying'."

Why do some people think Shawn Andrews was a bad guy? He had a back injury that required two surgeries. What did he do wrong?

Sheil, can you provide a list of players the Eagles have worked out over the years and compare it with how many of those players they actually drafted? That would be interesting. My impression is they end up drafting very few of the guys they work out.

Here we go again. The Eagles waste a first round pick on a o-line player that won't even see the field to the 2012 season. Why is it so many other teams get o-line guys in the lower rounds of the draft or sign non-drafted free agents, develop them, get them to play after a while, and they become solid or sometimes even studs? AR AND CASTILLO ARE...not bright.

An overrated OL who used to be a TE? that's more like it Andy.

Soulman - you were intrigued by their Berry workout, weren't you? Me too. If he drops, and the Birds move into to the top 15? And regarding Big Lazy - I don't like him b/c he quit on the Eagles.

Yo, 81 - nobody said Capers was a first rounder. "Here we go again" is right back atcha. Personally, I think he needs to put on a few lbs to play offensive line in the pros.

Sounds like a typical Eagles pick.

If Berry falls like Maclin did I can see the Eagles moving up for him but that's unlikely. Shawn Andrews didn't quit. His back is screwed up. The Eagles released him. He didn't retire.

Soulman - sometimes players walk away from the game because of injury. Sometimes they fight to come back but can't. Both deserve respect, but Big Lazy isn't in either category. If Andrews didn't quit, why didn't he do his rehab in Philly? Why did he not attend team meetings? What about his injury prevented him from watching film? Why did he NOT EVEN WATCH the Raiders game and instead get a PEDICURE? That's why I don't like him. Good NFL teams cut cancers like him before they spread.

Andy Reid plan on converting him to a TE. We are so lucky to have him evaluating players for the Eagles.
