Stunned by the Vick news

Are you for or against the Eagles signing Michael Vick?
For.
Against.

Update: Eagletarian has confirmation from Joe Banner. It's official, folks.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Eagles have signed Michael Vick to a two-year deal.

This has to qualify as the most shocking news involving the team, well, maybe ever?

Just last week, Andy Reid was asked about the possibility of signing Vick and here's what he said during a TV interview:

"I'm happy with my quarterback situation here," he said. "I do believe this kid deserves a second chance, and there's nobody better to have in your corner than Tony Dungy, man. He's a class, class act, and I know commissioner [Roger] Goodell has stood up on the table for the kid, so I'm sure there were some things that happened there that built that trust in him. He's got great people in his corner, and I'm pulling for him."

Earlier in camp Reid was asked about Vick and said he believes in second chances at this point in his life.

Donovan McNabb had also been asked about Vick and said he believed he should get a chance to play in the NFL without receiving any further punishment from the league.

How do you feel about the signing?

More soon.

They're going to give him a RB or WR # and use him in the wildcat formations. They can't list him as #2 QB cause he won't know the system for quite some time and he can't be listed as #3 cause if he comes in that's the end of the day for the starter. He'll get 3 - 4 touches a game from games 7 to 16. Steling some thunder from the Phils but is it worth the PR hit? We'll see

Some of you have the brain capacity to think that this is about stealing headlines from the Phils or just creating headlines?...Paleez, such narrow thinking.

I think I'm done with the Eagles and the NFL. Society is giving way too much value to sports stars and celebrities in general. Athletic talent seems to trump almost all other behavior.

I will not support the Eagles until the current cabal of hypocrites have died and moldered in their pitiful graves. T.O. only tortured Donovan McNabb. But...he had to go. This monster tortured dozens and dozens of innocent creatures. But...he gets a two year deal. F Jeffrey Lurie. I hope he burns in hell......

You know this is why the world is so negative. I think it's great that the Eagles out of all the teams choose to give this man a chance. Before you vick bashers, or you fake Eagle fans jump off the band wagon, let this man have fair shot at renewing his image, and making himself a better person for his kids!!! Or kid. How about that!!!!

nas786, yeah, he'd be filth if he was white. He's filth and always will be and it has zero to do with his race. Grow up.

Hmmm....Very interesting. I believe in 2nd chances. I also believe that we've been screaming for a Super Bowl title. This signing just shows me that the Eagles are willing to do just about anything to win. Is that really so bad?

This is not a shocking move...This is a typical Eagles move. They aquire talent for cheap. They are probably counting on other teams next year wanting Vick. Can I say a high second round pick. The Eagles are always looking at the future. Vick is great trade bait.

I love it...am I the only one who saw him single-handedly carry the Falcons' offense for years? He has paid his debt to society and has been contrite. This guy is going to make an impact- I think Andy Reid will adopt some form of the Wildcat with Vick at the helm by season's end. At 29, I have no idea how much of that 4.3 speed he's still got, but I'm looking foraward to finding out...

The dog days of summer are over with. WHY did we have to sign him? Joe Banner should resign with whatever dignity he has left! He has let go of so many great players, and now look what he brings in?
