Baskett's next stop; Buck to call Eagles game

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting on Twitter that former Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett will sign with the Indianapolis Colts today.

Update: Baskett's agent has confirmed the move to Les Bowen over at Eagletarian.

The Birds released Baskett earlier this week when they removed Michael Vick from the exempt list. The Eagles reportedly tried to trade him first, but when they couldn't find a suitable partner, decided instead to release him.

After Baskett passed through waivers, he was free to sign with any team.

Earliler this week, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reported that at least seven teams contacted the Eagles about possibly trading for Baskett, so it seems a little puzzling that they were not able to get even a late-round pick for him.

As for the Colts, their wide receiver situation is as iffy as it's been in years. Indianapolis is without Marvin Harrison for the first time in a decade. And Anthony Gonzalez, who many predicted would pick up the slack, is out for at least a month after spraining ligaments in his knee in Week 1 against the Jaguars.

So Baskett, who always appeared to be a good teammate here, finds himself in a situation where he'll get a chance to be on the field.

As I tweeted earlier this week, Fox's No. 1 announcing crew of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver will be in Philadelphia Sunday to call the Eagles-Saints game. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Here's what else most of you in the Philadelphia area will be viewing. If you're not in Philly, check out this site to see what games will be available in your area.

In Philly:

4 p.m. -- Bears vs. Steelers on CBS. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms with the call.

Sunday night -- It'll be a good one for our purposes, Giants at Cowboys on NBC as Jerry Jones unveils his new toy for the first time in the regular season.

Monday night -- Dolphins vs. Colts on ESPN.

Late last night I posted our weekly feature with Dave Staley of, looking at the Eagles line. Birds-Saints is a pick 'em, with the over/under at 47. Staley had a good gambling story from Week 1, worth a read.
