There are conflicting reports on the Titans' potential interest in Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel.

A league source tells Terry McCormick of TitansInsider.com that the team has at least some interest in Samuel. But Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean says via Twitter that he's told the Titans are not interested at this time.

The key part of McCormick's report is that a source tells him the Eagles are seeking a third-round pick for Samuel, who turned 31 in January.

Samuel carries a 2012 base salary of $9.5M, but can still be a quality starter in the right system. Tennessee's pass defense was 20th last year, according to Football Outsiders' rankings, and the Titans lost Cortland Finnegan in free agency. They had just 11 interceptions, which ranked tied for 24th. Samuel has 23 interceptions in four seasons with the Eagles, including three last season.

Jeff McLane of the Inquirer wrote about the potential market for Samuel this morning, noting that he'd be open to restructuring his current deal.

Earlier today, I rounded up some mocks and offered thoughts on the draft.

Andy in his infinite wisdom will no doubt find a way to move Asante to an NFC East team. "It worked with Donovan."

Take whatever you can get for him or trade Cromartie. Whatever you do, don’t run the same backfield you had last year. The way they were used made them look like amateurs rather than perennial Pro Bowlers.

For only a third round pick, I'd keep Asante, if only for some insurance. I know it's expensive insurance, but you have three good corners who can start. Without Asante, you're down to two, with question marks at the position if anyone gets hurt (and during the course of a season, that's a pretty likely "if").

Sorry, but I'd keep the guy unless someone knocks my socks off with an offer - or if I need the cap room, which probably isn't the case with the Eagles. Do they really need another third round pick more than some piece of mind that they can endure an injury at the position?

When they get that 3rd round pick, fans will be on the edge of their seats during the draft, waiting for Howie and Andy to select the next Victor Ibeamary, Teo A'shamed or Curtsy Marsh(Mellow)! Good Luck Asante!

IF pea brain Pee Wee trades Asante he should be fired. If he trades him for a conditional 3rd round pick he should be castrated with a blunt stone first and then fired. DRC cannot cover or tackle. He's not good enough to start. That's why the Cardinals traded him and selected a CB withi their first round pick last year.
