Report: Saints could covet Spagnuolo

With every day that passes, it seems another team gets mentioned as a potential landing spot for Steve Spagnuolo.

On Friday, I wrote about the Vikings having interest in Spagnuolo (or potentially Juan Castillo). And earlier in the week, there were reports that the Falcons had him high on their list.

Today, ESPN's Adam Schefter adds a new team to the mix: the New Orleans Saints.

Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is expected to join Jeff Fisher in St. Louis. New Orleans finished 28th in total defense, according to Football Outsiders. The Saints, whose season ended with a 36-32 loss to the 49ers yesterday, allowed 21.2 points per game (13th) during the regular season.

New Orleans and Atlanta both have Dolphins defensive coordinator Mike Nolan on their list also, according to reports.

It appears there's going to be quite a bit of competition for Spagnuolo's services. The fact that the Falcons and the Saints could be pursuing him is particularly interesting, considering both were in the playoffs this season and will be battling each other in the NFC South in 2012.
