The national media have nothing but positive things to say about Kevin Kolb. Plus, a new DeSean Jackson commercial (unfortunately with no mention of hummus).

Back on July 25, I made seven camp predictions.
I hit on some, and I missed on others. More on all of them later today after camp closes. But here's what I wrote about Kevin Kolb:
I think that when the national reporters stop by, most will write similarly-themed articles about the 2010 Eagles. They will focus around the changing of the guard at quarterback and Kevin Kolb's first year as a starter. I think the national guys who have had limited contact with Kolb in the past will come away impressed, and by the time the season starts, it will be difficult to find a national reporter or TV personality who predicts that Kolb is not up for the challenge.
And that's how it's gone for the most part - a lovefest for Kolb by pretty much every writer who has stopped by. I can't remember seeing a single item by the national media that suggests he's not going to play well.
As I mentioned in a previous post, SI.com's Peter King gave Kolb some love in this week's Monday Morning Quarterback column.
And similar thoughts on Kolb have surfaced from a couple other national writers. John Czarnecki of FoxSports.com writes about how everyone he's talked to seems to have faith in Kolb, including Fox analyst and former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman.
"I have started talking with him," Aikman told Czarnecki. "I was impressed with how he played at the end of last season. He has a quick delivery, and he showed me a lot of poise. I think he has a chance to be a real good quarterback."
Czarnecki also has a Donovan McNabb note in his column.
There’s no question Reid’s one of the league’s finest coaches with a respectable history of winning in the NFC East, but despite those five NFC title game appearances, the Eagles won only one, then McNabb puked in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl loss to New England. Giants coach Tom Coughlin told me McNabb did the same thing in Jacksonville in 2002 when his Jaguars beat the Eagles, but that’s another story, although Coughlin still wishes Reid would have traded McNabb out of the division.
Meanwhile, Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports takes a similar angle, talking to Kolb's teammates and coaches about his leadership and his ability to take over:
Though they fielded trade offers for all three passers – "We didn’t put a for-sale sign up," Andy Reid says, "but we sat back and let people come to us and kind of evaluated what was best" – the psychic move to Kolb had already been made. It became official on Easter as Kolb kicked back at home, having flown back to Philly earlier that morning from Texas, where his wife, Whitney, and their two young daughters stayed behind to continue visiting relatives.

"similarly-themed articles" -- great work as always, Sheil, but you don't need that hyphen. It's not a compound adjective. "Similiarly" clearly modifies "themed" . . . I see this tiny meaningless grammatical error everywhere on this site and elsewhere. You're too good to perpetuate it!— Leegles

- That guy was the #2 overall pick, not a second rounder. And he had more than 2 games behind him before that full year as starter. I hope Kolb does well, but see some growing pains this season. 11-5 is too much to ask for.— P Even

I'm looking forward to Kolb because I think the Eagles can now play and win as a team. No more of this "the wins were because of the defense, the losses were because of the QB." - Cicero.. In Mcnabbs first year as a starter,they had at least 3 wins where they were down in the 4th quarter, 2 on the road, and won. Maybe YOU should go back and check some box scores.

Last season everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. The team still won 11 games. This season the defense should be better, because of Graham, Sims, Allen and the return of Bradley. On offense the O-line was a mess all season, and so far it looks like that hasn't changed. That does worry me, but the addition of Cooper and Harbor, an long with the natural progression that second year starters Maclin and McCoy should display gives Kolb plenty of weapons. As long as Kolb doesn't suck, and the line does it's job, this team will still be a playoff team. All of the moves they made on defense where to allow them to mimic the defense the Vikings destroyed the Cowgirls with in the playoffs. I see them winning 4 of 6 division games, and going 6-4 in the other games. 10-6 and the NFC East title.- Kolb has the benefit of a much, much more mature group of offensive players. With that in mind, he really has no excuses. All he has to do is keep possession of the ball. He needs to cut back on the interceptions and boneheaded decisions. For a guy who has been in the system as long as he has, he still makes some really awful decisions with the ball. I'd like to see him play more than a quarter this preseason, he needs all the help he can get. I predict somewhere between 15-20 INTs this season and 25+ TDs.— psv

- @psv i agree with you as far as kolb stats my prediction is 3200/26tds/17ints and critcal interceptions with the game on the line in 5-6 games eagles record 7-9 better luck next year. eagles will be a playoff contender in the next 2yrs but this year it not going to happen.— teebone40

- Everybody gets so wrapped up in the QB. Yes, QB is an important position, but not more important than head coach or GM. I'm hopeful for Kolb, I really am; but the fact is we just got rid of one of the NFL's all time best in terms of TD/int ratio and we have a coaching staff who, very predictably, calls 70% pass plays. Say what you want about McNabb, he didn't turn the ball over despite the ridiculously pass happy offense. If Kolb is anything less than equally spectacular in that regard, things could get ugly. I'm not bashing Kolb at all, just pointing out that the coach, and his play calling, will continue to have more to do with the success, or lack thereof, of this team than Kolb ever will.— bobby-d

- It's good to hear that the national sports media has taken notice of Kolb, I hope that translates into more coverage of the Eagles overall because they usually spend too much time talking about the Cowboys. If Kolb has a good year maybe people will stop spending so much time talking about players who are not even Eagles anymore and focus on the young talent we presently have on the team this year.— DKALB69

I know McNabb is gone but if I'm not mistaken we agreed it was the right move. KK doesn't have to be great, only OK. The rest of the team is much better than the catastrophy [injury-wise] of last year and should be able to carry him unless he is a real interception machine [which is possible, I admit]. I think AR looking at so many RBs this year indicates he will run more and no one has a better receiving corp than the Eagles. Our D HAS to be better with all the returning vets and good looking rooks so if McNabb can drag that shipwreck of a team into the playoffs last year, how can KK NOT do the same with a better team? - News writers and posters, i love the Eagles, I loved them when they could not win, I loved them when they learned how to win with Dick Vermeil, I loved them when they became bad again, i loved them when their defense was awesome with Reggie, Jerome and Buddy Ryan. I loved them even though with Randall Cunningham they won one playoff game during that period. I loved them when they started to stink up the Vet again. i loved them when Ray Rhodes motivated them fight, and even though they never won a Super Bowl, I loved them still. This past era of Eagles football has been the greatest time for watching my Eagles win they have broken and shattered records for stats, wins,and playoff wins, didn't quite get that SB victory but what a ride. I will miss McNabb, Westbrook, Brown and Dawkins in Eagle Green wishing them well on their journeys but I will always love the Eagles even now and forever more. Players come and go but the Eagle flies always for us. Respect the players who have given their all to win in Eagle green because they try to win it for us everyone of them and to this date they have all failed to win a Super Bowl....But I love them still.......GO EAGLES!!!— tmoon51
