How the Eagles can clinch the NFC East

Here's how the Eagles can clinch the NFC East after their thrilling win against the Giants Sunday afternoon.

I'll have plenty to say about the Eagles' 38-31 win over the Giants this afternoon, but right away, let's get to what it means.

The Birds can clinch the NFC East if one of the following things happens:

* The Eagles win one of their final two games against the Vikings or Cowboys.

* The Giants lose one of their final two games against the Packers or Redskins.

That's it. In other words, the magic number is one. One Eagles win OR one Giants loss in the final two weeks gives the Birds the NFC East.

Not only that, but the Eagles have set themselves up for a potential first-round bye. Granted, they'll need some help.

The Bears are at 9-4 and take on the Vikings Monday night. The Eagles need to pick up one game on Chicago to earn a first-round bye because the Bears own the tiebreaker.

Chicago has the Jets at home in Week 16 and then travels to Green Bay to take on the Packers in Week 17.

If the Bears lose one of their final three games, and the Eagles can win their final two, they will get a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

Much more to come.
