Plaxico continues Eagles campaign

Plaxico Burress is doing what most of us would probably be doing in his situation.

He's selling himself - to any and all potentially interested parties.

The soon-to-be 34-year-old wide receiver has not played in an NFL game since 2008 and is looking for a job. So he's making the rounds, talking to reporters and trying to make himself look as attractive as possible before the start of free agency.

And while the Eagles are not the only team he seems interested in playing for, they are one of the teams that seems to be mentioned every time Burress is discussing his future.

Yesterday, during an interview with Harry Mayes and Brian Baldinger on 97.5 The Fanatic, Burress talked about the possibility of playing in Philly.

"It's definitely attractive. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's not," Burress said. "I just look at the pitch to the public that's already in place, and if I can just go out there and fill that void and just be that extra playmaker, and go out and have a presence, have an impact, make the guys better around me, it's a great opportunity. You don't get this opportunity too many times in sports and in life to be able to go out and be a part of a group that's already elite. And if I can just go out and just have a presence, make some plays and do what I love to do, I think it can be really special."

While with the Giants, Burress played against the Eagles eight times and scored seven touchdowns. He also had four 100-yard games. During the interview, Burress explained that most of his success came when the Eagles blitzed and left their cornerbacks alone to cover him one-on-one, a strategy that obviously did not work.

Burress called the Eagles' offense the most explosive in football and explained that he wouldn't have a problem fitting in with the already established group of playmakers.

"I look at DeSean [Jackson] and what he's done the years he's been there. He's one of the most explosive guys in the NFL, not just as a wide receiver," Burress said. "And I think Jeremy Maclin complements him very well. I just want to come into a situation where I can come in and have an impact and compete. If I can come in and make some plays, score some touchdowns, draw some coverage in the red zone, all it does is just make that offense more better than it already is."

And finally, Burress talked about his much-publicized choice of headgear, explaining that he's a big Phillies fan. He predicted a Phillies World Series title this season and called Jimmy Rollins one of his favorite players.

While it may seem like Burress has really keyed in on the Eagles, the truth is he is working to make himself attractive to a number of different teams and wants as many options as possible. Earlier this week, in an interview with NFL Network, Burress said he thinks the Jets are eventually going to the Super Bowl and the Texans are destined for great things.

Back in May, I offered my take on Burress being a potential fit with the Eagles.

BAD PUB FOR DESEAN

DeSean Jackson has made a lot of positive headlines this offseason for his crusade against bullying, but he made waves yesterday for allegedly using a gay slur on a Sirius XM radio program. Deadspin has more details, including the audio.

To this point, Jackson has only commented on the interview via his Twitter feed, saying yesterday:

WANNA BRING ME DOWN BUT IM OK!! THEY TRYIN KNOCC ME OFF BUT IM STILL ON!!

THEY LOOKN 2 TAKE YA DOWN AT ALL TIMES NO MATTER HOW POSITIVE AND WHAT U DO!! ITS ALWAYS AWAY THEY TRY TO GET YA.... IM STANDIN TALL

Last year, Eagles offensive lineman Todd Herremans got into trouble when he Tweeted about the HBO show True Blood and homosexuality. After a chat with Eagles management, he then issued an apology.

We'll see if the same thing happens with Jackson.
