Pats interested in Feeley?

POSTED: Monday, August 31, 2009, 7:26 AM

The New England Patriots are among the "many teams" interested in Eagles backup quarterback A.J. Feeley, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com.

The St. Louis Rams are also said to be interested.

The Eagles, however, are unlikely to part ways with Feeley before commissioner Roger Goodell announces how many games Michael Vick has to sit out.

Feeley and the Eagles nearly beat the 16-0 Patriots team back in 2007, but eventually fell, 31-28. He went 27-for-42 for 345 yards against Bill Belichick and company in Week 12 that season. Feeley tossed three touchdowns but was also picked off three times, twice by Asante Samuel.

He saw action in three games that season but did not get on the field in 2008.

The Patriots and Eagles have made a couple deals this offseason, with New England acquiring wide receiver Greg Lewis and the Birds picking up cornerback Ellis Hobbs.

The fact that the Rams, who have a former Eagle as head coach, are interested in AJ and not Corn Kolb speaks volumes about who's the better QB.

Philly is the only town where a QB can become a has-been before he ever had a chance to be.

Thought they would be more interested in Kolb but I guess the clipboard holder position is full.

we are going to keep dMac next year, but we will need 3 backups! eagles will never pay #2 Vick that 5 mil next year and he'll have too many chances to start & lead elsewher. #3 Klob was a bad pick, drafted too high, capable but will surely be a long time back up #4 Feeley we love, but has proven too mmany times that while capable & athletic, he just cannt do it (i bet only Belichek cud turn him into a starter)

    1) Feeley stinks 2) No on is "interested" in Kolb because he is not being shopped by the Eagles Feeley is, because he's going to be cut 3) Goodell will announce when Vick is unsuspended the week that Vick is unsuspended and it is all pending on Vick keeping his nose clean

get rid of AJ...he's probably better than kolb right this minute, but if mcnabb goes down our season is over anyways...at least with Kolb, we might have something down the road, whereas we've seen AJ has pretty limited upside

If the Eagles are able to get anything for Feeley, it's pure genius. He was already traded for a 2nd rd. pick. To sign him as a FA and trade him for a 4th would be unbelievable for a guy who was a backup in college.
