Packers preferred facing Kolb

Clay Matthews' teammates gave him a hard time when the Packers linebacker knocked Kevin Kolb out of Sunday's game and they had to face Michael Vick, according to Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee.

"We said, 'What are you doing man?' We'd rather have (Kolb) in there," defensive lineman Ryan Pickett said with a laugh. "Vick, he's a headache for anybody who plays him. We came out (of college) together, and I think I've played him every other year and he's a headache to stop every year for a defense. He just showed he's back in form. But our defense answered the call."

Defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins agreed.

"(Vick) he changed (the game) a whole lot," Jenkins said. "You were almost wishing they put the other quarterback back in. Chasing him around is not fun at all."

The other quarterback. Jenkins didn't even mention Kolb by name. Those are quotes Kolb should stash away for the next time the Eagles and Green Bay face each other.

As for the Packers, they've lost running back Ryan Grant and defensive lineman Justin Harrell for the season. Both players were injured during Sunday's game at the Linc. The two teams combined lost three offensive starters for the season in less than one half of football.

PORTIS APOLOGIZES

In the past couple of days, there's been a lot of discussion nationally about female reporter Ines Sainz and her treatment inside the Jets locker room.

Today, Redskins running back Clinton Portis chimed in. Here's what he said during a radio interview, per Dan Steinberg of The Washington Post:

"You know man, I think you put women reporters in the locker room in positions to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of the sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room, I think men are gonna tend to turn and look and want to say something to that woman. For the woman, I think they make it so much that you can't interact and you can't be involved with athletes, you can't talk to these guys, you can't interact with these guys.

"And I mean, you put a woman and you give her a choice of 53 athletes, somebody got to be appealing to her. You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's gonna want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's packages. And you're just sitting here, saying 'Oh, none of this is attractive to me.' I know you're doing a job, but at the same time, the same way I'm gonna cut my eye if I see somebody worth talking to, I'm sure they do the same thing."

Portis issued an apology later in the day.

EXTENSION FOR STUDEBAKER

The Kansas City Chiefs have extended Andy Studebaker's contract, a source tells Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com.

Studebaker was originally a sixth-round pick by the Eagles in 2008. He played in all 16 games for Kansas City last season, tallying a pair of interceptions and a forced fumble. Studebaker had a strong showing against the Eagles in the preseason last month.

The last thing Andy Reid needs is a quarterback controversy, and he might get one with Vick-Kolb.

They've got the Cowboys eighth, the Redskins 14th and the Giants 16th.

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com has the Eagles 13th:

So many injuries to overcome so soon plus a potential QB controversy. Man.

La Canfora has the Cowboys ninth, the Giants 11th and the Redskins 14th.
