Eagles check out pair of RBs
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
As I explained in Friday's piece, running back seems like a position the Eagles are likely to address at some point in the draft.
The latest names to surface are Oklahoma's DeMarco Murray and USC's Allen Bradford.
Murray (6-0, 213) had a visit planned with the Eagles, according to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com
He was a big part of the Sooners' offense the last four seasons. Murray carried 759 times for 3,685 yards and 50 touchdowns. He was also productive as a receiver, something the Eagles will undoubtedly be attracted to. Last year, Murray had 71 catches for 594 yards. In his college career, Murray had 157 receptions for 1,571 yards.
NFL.com's scouting report says Murray is "very capable" in pass protection, and he ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at the combine, fifth among running backs.
Another aspect of Murray's game that will be considered a plus for the Eagles is his experience as a return man. He returned kicks for Oklahoma in each of the past three seasons.
Murray was an All-Big 12 selection last season. Most projections have him going in the second or third round.
Bradford (5-11, 242), meanwhile, worked out for the Eagles on Thursday, a league source tells Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.
Bradford averaged 7.2 yards per carry as a senior, totaling 794 yards on 110 attempts. Most projections have him slated as a late-round pick or undrafted free agent.

Who cares about running backs, for real? It's no secrect the Eagles NEED at least 2 stud linebackers, including one that can actually rush the passer on occasion. A stud DE would not hurt, either, bur get the best LB available and just sign the FE CB from the Raiders. That would improve the defense right away!! They can get a reliable OT or guard in the 2nd round. But for once Andy, shock the fans and get us what we need!!LB,LB,LB!!!! antmry312
I think Jeff and Joe have their eyes on another guy coming off a injury that they can pick up cheap..... clemenza
Your majesty, get down on your knees and bow down to the real king. My bad, I sincerely apologize, how about the first couple rounds? Do you really want a rb in the first 3 rounds? If so, then you're wrong, flatout. We have shady, harrison, buckley, schmidt, and weaver if he ever comes back to play. I was referring to what dragoon said anyway. beerflow- Late Round pick(s) - Delone Carter 5' 81/2 224 lbs, 4.46 forty and can catch... or Noel Devine...5'7 160lbs, 4.3 forty...runs big ( I freakin hope so!)
Non story...How do I get a job with the Daily News? Gregory1
Why not DeLone Carter of Syracuse? Incredible record with one of the weakest offensive lines in the BCS.....In the combine, he was one of the best performers ....and the city of Philadelphia is waist deep in SU alums who buy tickets....We have enough flashy open field performers who are absolutely useless in the red zone...Let's get him and a sure three to five yards and an occasional fifteen rather than someone who will fumble trying to get the thirty or forty....and will NEVER give us a chance with third and three at the end of game ! zetabeta5
Dragoon6, odds are they won't take a running back early because of a guy named LeSean McCoy. No McCoy, sure, a running back in the 2nd round would be a good bet. They're much more likely to use early round picks on linemen and corners, especially after selecting Jackson, Maclin and McCoy in recent years. armchairGM- I want Alex Green from Hawaii. He is the total package.
ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz! DJ
For a guy with 4.4 Speed and decent size....A college Career with lots of Carries....4.8 per Carry is not a Very Impressive number...That is just not Productive enough for our type of Offense.
If we need to take anyone Maybe a shot at a big Back (Never injured) Bigmike 34
Beerflow, put the drink down, you just barfed all over yourself. Day 1 = Round 1 only. That's not exactly news. Your Majesty
The whole eagles nation will be outraged if they take a rb on day 1. The team needs D, straight up. What are you smokin dragoon? beerflow
They won't take a RB in the 2nd round? What makes you think that Fman727? (Other than clearly never watching an Eagles draft) Reid has gone RB on day one multiple times. And it's a position of need in a year free agency might not be available. If they get a good RB in round 2 or 3, I won't be upset. dragoon6
It's always good to have a good capable young RB waiting in the wings and DeMarco Murray looks like a good fit for the EAGLES. He has speed and the skill set to play EAGLE football. Hoping the EAGLES draft him in second or third round. I agree the BIRDS need some defensive help, and a RB would be another good addition. GO EAGLES!!! Phillyflashgordon
A running back? For who, for what? We need quick, strong, large, nasty defenders. Eephus
No one cares. Sheil should just write about the Phillies for now. riles1875
Is it draft day yet, or must this torture go on? wordsword
We wont take a back till 5th round. its so deep in rb's and we barely need one. So easy to find a back up rb for a team who does not run the ball... Just make sure we end up with a CB with one of our first two picks. fman727
Murray could be a good pro back. I can't see the Eagles using a 2nd round this year on a running back, though. armchairGM
You know the saying "no news is good news"? These guys also need to learn "no news is no news". Gray Areas
Comment removed.
Boring shawnmac
Seeing that Bradford is projected as a late rounder or an undrafted free agent,he has the better chance of the eagles drafting him....However, if he wants a contract he'd better come with some type of knee injury! Geno D
