More mocks: Who will the Eagles take?

I rounded up a bunch of these on Friday, but with the real thing just days away, several mock drafts have been updated in the last 48 hours.

Before I get to those, though, don't forget to check out our special draft section. And a reminder about our special draft event at McFadden's on Tuesday night.

Much more draft chatter later, but here are the mocks:

ESPN.com's network of divisional bloggers teamed together for a mock draft. The Eagles ended up with Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson:

The Eagles can't believe their good fortune when the Packers take a project player in front of them. There's a chance Wilson immediately takes over for Sheldon Brown as a starter. The Cowboys were hoping he'd keep sliding.

Pat Kirwan of NFL.com has the Eagles taking Maurkice Pouncey, guard/center from Florida:

The Eagles have 11 picks in this draft and can afford to take the best player available, or use some picks to move up the draft board. Andy Reid has never hesitated to take linemen in the first round, and Pouncey gives him a guard-center type who could be blocking for Kevin Kolb for his whole career.

Kirwan actually mocks the first three rounds. He has the Birds taking South Florida safety Nate Allen at No. 37, TCU linebacker Daryl Washington at No. 55, Oklahoma cornerback Dominique Franks at No. 70 and Georgia defensive tackle Geno Atkins at No. 87.

Rob Rang of CBSSports.com gives the Eagles USC safety Taylor Mays:

When the Eagles let Brian Dawkins go last season, they lost a great deal of leadership and physicality. The team acknowledged as much by signing Marlin Jackson in free agency. But he also has a history of knee issues and has never been a standout at cornerback or safety. Mays might not replace Dawkins' presence in the locker room, but his big-hitting ability would bring toughness to what was a soft defense at times last season.

Chad Reuter of CBSSports.com has the Eagles taking Wilson. CBSSports.com's Clark Judge gives them Idaho guard Mike Iupati:

He shouldn't fall this far, but he could. If that happens, Eagles pounce. Andy Reid is always interested in linemen.

And Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com has the Eagles selecting Rutgers cornerback Devin McCourty:

They are looking for a replacement for Sheldon Brown, who they traded to Cleveland. The Eagles are good at filling holes.

Yahoo's Shutdown Corner has the Eagles taking Mays:

Mays is a great pick for a team in an obvious state of rebuilding. While his physical gifts — start with 4.3 speed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds — are incredible, he needs development in a few areas. There are legitimate questions about his ability to cover in space and transition from intermediate to deep coverage. Early on, he may be best served in a rover role, spending more time near the line and closing in on short stuff. If he can add specific coverage skills to his current portfolio, watch out.

WalterFootball.com has the Eagles going with Wilson:

Kyle Wilson is one of the better players available at this juncture. He'll be the pick if the Steelers, Texans and Packers pass on him.

Wes Bunting of the National Football Post gives the Eagles USC defensive end Everson Griffen:

The Eagles still have questions along their defensive line. Griffen gives them an explosive, powerful lineman who can rush off the edge.

Not saying nothing new, but it's gonna be either Berry, Pouncey or Wilson. I think Mays still has some growing to do, and doesn't fit with the current state of the defensive scheme. And they definitely won't draft Everson Griffen. Too many other needs ahead of DE, plus I keep hearing they really like Darryl Tapp, (their words, not mine).

I'm a Pouncey guy, but there's no way he slips to #24, and I can't see the birds trading up for an interior lineman. I'll be interested to see how patient they're going to be, my guess is if their guy starts to slip to them, they'll take no chances and trade up.

Trade their First Round Pick(24) and Next years first To Browns for Eric Berry. If he really is Ed Reed-like then they have to do this right. They don't need too much on offense and getting Berry in first and then soild Corner in second round (55) or (37) with maybe Olinemen or D-line with other pick. They have two third rounders and Lee of Penn St and Brandon Spikes should be there in 3rd round. Plenty of chances for reserve DB's with their two fourth rounders, RIght?

roseman is probably going to be a better judge of talent than people think... my guess the eagles package Vick to pick up a third in 2011... then pick a o lineman then a corner... a safety... a big running back... tony pike as the development qb... then a wildcat guy in armanti edwards...ducasse or veldheer and a project linebacker... maybe zolatn the punter in the seventh...

Z-force -- to move from #24 to #21 or thereabouts would not cost all that much. Remember, last year to draft Maclin, they moved from #21 to #19 with a 5th round pick. And if they are as high or higher on Wilson as I think they are, they'll get their guy -- that's when Reid moves up - when their #1 guy is still there. They are not taking a safety in Rd. 1, since the only 1 who justifies a 1st round pick is Berry. The S in Rd 2 are AT LEAST as good as Thomas or Mays - maybe even better! 3 Cheers for Kirwan, who predicted Daryl Washington! (See Sims, Earl). I was high on Washington until I realized that he tackles people by their feet and utterly lacks strength. But he's right on Nate Allen. And he should have included Chad Jones-S-LSU at #55. This is 2002 redux! Instead of CB-CB-S, it will be CB-S-S! DL/LB in rds 3-4! The only player they'd trade WAY up for, and the highest they'll trade up, is 10-15 for Rolando McClain-LB-ALA.

crohn, that #37 pick will most likely get traded for a 2011 1st and a 2010 late pick. You just know AR won't be able to help himself if a team comes calling on Friday.

I love looking at mock drafts, because every year since Andy took over, never has anyone actually guessed right. Its nice to think we all know what our team needs, but I trust Andy more than anyone else. Say what you want about him, but he does put a playoff caliber team on the field every year.

at this point with a young new QB coming in, i'd want him to feel as confident and secure as possible so id take the best OL available in rd 1. What's the prognosis on the OL in the draft? anyone similar to Shawn Andrews, but not a lazy waste of oxygen? the big kid coulda been special. what a clown

I hear the 2016 draft is incredibly deep with kickers and punters so that may be a good move. This all makes me laugh.. on the one hand people are saying teams shouldn't or don't draft for need, take the best player on the board and then all the mock drafts have teams drafting for needs. Still I guess it keeps a few people employed and many others something to read... at the end of the day someone is bound to be right.
