McNabb responds to DeSean's comments

"It's so wild when people get to talking when you're not there, but when you're there everybody loves you," said Donovan McNabb, in response to recent comments by WR DeSean Jackson.

DeSean Jackson has been pretty consistent with his comments this offseason when asked about Donovan McNabb.

He is excited about the Eagles' young nucleus on offense, believes the team will have success with Kevin Kolb and predicts that the Birds will surprise some people who are expecting a drop-off.

Now, depending on how you look at his comments, either he's strongly backing Kolb and management, or he's slighting McNabb.

Jackson's most recent comments came in The Sporting News. He told the magazine he was "very happy with the decision" to trade McNabb.

"I don't think we lost anything, even with McNabb being gone," Jackson said.

Yesterday, at Redskins minicamp, McNabb was asked to respond.

"It's so wild when people get to talking when you're not there, but when you're there everybody loves you," McNabb said, according to the Associated Press. "So I guess people will go deeper into it than I will. I'm a Redskin, no longer an Eagle. I had 11 great years and I'm moving on with my life, so whoever may say things when I'm gone, more power to them, but it's not making you look like a bigger man."

McNabb's right that everyone should move on. Will the debate ever end? Of course not. But at this point, we've heard from everyone on the Eagles' roster and front office. I wonder how many times Jackson has been asked about the McNabb trade this offseason. What else can he say at this point?

The truth is McNabb and Jackson were a great fit for two seasons. McNabb had the arm and know-how to get the ball downfield, as the Eagles evolved into a big-play offense.

And Jackson had the speed and ability to get open downfield that the Eagles lacked for most of McNabb's tenure here.
