A season-ticket holder sent me an e-mail he received from Jeffrey Lurie, Christina Lurie and Joe Banner today. Thought I'd share it:

Dear Eagles fans,

During the holiday season, we'd like to say thank you and let you know how fortunate the entire Eagles organization feels to have such loyal and supportive fans.

We never forget that our season ticket holders are the ones who make the games at Lincoln Financial Field special. We know our players, coaches and the entire front office appreciate how you make it tough for our opponents to play here. We also know this weekend's game, as always, against the Cowboys will be another great example of what home field advantage really means.

Thanks again for being the best fans in the NFL. We hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Lurie
Christina Lurie
Joe Banner

TV schedule

As you know by now, the Eagles' game against the Cowboys has been moved to 4:15 p.m. on Fox. Your announcers for the second straight week will be Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. It seems to me that the national TV guys are generally pretty positive when talking about Donovan McNabb. But Aikman pointed out McNabb's inaccuracies and shortcomings several times during last week's broadcast.

Eagletarian had the scoop on the other games earlier this week on the other games that will air in the Philadelphia market for most of us. But here they are in case you missed them. At 1 o'clock on CBS, it'll be Raiders-Bucs. Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon have the call. The Eagles, of course, need a Bucs loss to stay alive for the postseason. The 1 o'clock game on Fox will be Giants-Vikings, announced by Dick Stockton and Brian Baldinger. Eagles fans need either a Minnesota or Chicago loss as well.

At 4 p.m., in addition to Eagles-Cowboys, most in the Philadelphia area will get Dolphins-Jets on CBS. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms will have the call.

There are no Thursday night, Saturday night or Monday night games this week. The Sunday night matchup for the AFC West is Chargers-Broncos.

Happy Holidays to all the MTC readers out there. I am off from my day job as philly.com's sports channel manager quite a bit from now until the New Year. But this blog has become quite an obsession so there will still be frequent posts as we get ready for Week 17 and the playoffs.

The letter should have had another few sentences saying: "We are sorry for letting a stubborn, pass happy, belligerent coach continue to run the team and draft out of the first round the past 2 seasons. We are sorry for being 20 million dollars under the salary cap. We are sorry for not trading for Tony Gonzalez. That being said, we will raise ticket prices next year. Happy Holidays!"

Wait a minute. BOTH networks are doing a doubleheader this Sunday? CBS is going to be permitted to broadcast a game into the Philadelphia market while the Eagles home game is being played? Must be some sort of suspension of the rules for the holiday season. Gee, who says the NFL has no heart? Kind of ironic, though, that all of the games will have playoff teams except the 4:15 FOX game.

How ungrateful can you guys be? If they didn't send a letter, you'd complain that they don't care about the fans. You all suck

This letter is really saying that they don't want us booing our own crappily-coached and ineptly run team on Sun. "Hey, can we just focus on the Cowboys guys?" Well it's time to focus on the fact that we've really been just another average to mediocre team since 2004 and that this ownership and management is hell-bent on reliving those glory days constantly. Even those glory days weren't that glorious. HEY EAGLES management! Where's OUR World F------ Championship ring!!???

Dear Joe, and Jeff, Ty 4 ur letter. We appreciate the support n the kind words. But in the spirit of da holiday season, we ask as fans a few things to help us out. More alcohol facilites at the Linc. Those beer lines are killing us. We are missing all those Incomplete McNabb passes to TE LJ Smith. Screens nearby the facilites would also be helpful for when we watch another pass on third n 1 and fourth n 1, along with a earmuffs for our children for the bad words that will come out of our mouths afterwards. We also ask for the minimum removal of Mr. Andrew Reid as VP of operations/coach. He may remain in the organization (since you two are quite fond of bonding with him )but no longer will can he control our drafts, and playbooks please. We ask that a true general manager is hired that understands the draft. We also ask a overhaul of the player development department. And for the insistence that a northern east coast team adopt a run the football first philosophy with a coach that follows that philosophy. In light of the holiday season, those that are suffering also ask for a reduction in ticket prices. It would assist us in buying the new Kevin Kolb jerseys, and future QB jersey's this fall. TY for your time and co-operation on these matters. We look forward to hearing your reply. The time is now yours. Sincerely the true philadelphian fan

EAGLESNO1FAN, great reply letter! A couple of things though:1) Don't waste their money on a Kolb jersey. It will be worth about as much as my Bobby Hoying jersey...2)Unfortunately, I have it from a very reliable source that Andy realizes that he has "lost" his players much like he has "lost" sight of his own feet, and will be announcing at the end of the season that he will be removing himself from head coaching duties and stepping upstairs. This will allow for Tom Heckert to be made a scapegoat "adios, Tom", and for a good excuse to discard Donovan as well;"The new head coach wants to go in a new direction..." I think we are stuck with Andy running football operations, and sadly, our draft. I have great sympathy for our next coach...

The letter is thanking the fans for everything they did - in return what did the organization do to keep fan loyalty.........parking up this year, food and beverage up this year.........20 million under salary cap as banner stated in early november - "we need that money in order to negotiate long term contracts with existing players"......Have we seen any long term contracts negotiated?...I think not..........we are the "gold standard" for mediocrity......Shame they didn't announce if prices where going up again for 2009.
