Limbaugh talks McNabb, ESPN
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
Back in October of 2003, Rush Limbaugh resigned from ESPN after an uproar over comments he made about Donovan McNabb.
As you probably remember, Limbaugh said the media overrated McNabb because they wanted to see a black quarterback succeed.
More than six years later, he's bringing up the incident once again.
Limbaugh heard ESPN Radio host Erik Kuselias say McNabb was underrated in Philadelphia but overrated nationally last week.
Per Limbaugh's Web site, here's the exact quote from Kuselias:
"He's had a public fight with Rush Limbaugh, I don't mean the two of them, it was a polarizing issue. He's a had a public fight with T.O. He's been sort of underrated in his own city and maybe overrated nationally at the same time, it's been crazy!"
Limbaugh apparently saw no difference between what he said about McNabb and what Kuselias said.
He responded:
"What was that? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa hold it a minute. Is he still working there? Erik Kuselias has just said Donovan McNabb has been overrated nationally. Erik Kuselias just said that McNabb's been overrated nationally. Erik, if they zap you outta there, call me. I got some ideas."
Seahawks add Foley
The Seattle Seahawks have signed pass rusher Rickey Foley, his agent announced on Twitter. Reports surfaced earlier this month that the Eagles were one of the teams who worked him out. Foley, 27, led the CFL with 12 sacks last season.

McNabb is a very solid professional QB. His track record speaks for itself. About the time of the Eagles superbowl, some projected McNabb to become a truly great QB--more in the mold of Favre or Young. It hasn't happened yet. So, at some point McNabb was over rated...he was the Campbells and NFL poster boy, but this glow has faded...as it has for many sports heros. Smashmouth
Bozo the clown to Cinny to join Ocho,Choko,Moko and T.O. to form the new and improved 3 STOOGES ! jwatson
Seed: Did not say that any one play determines anything. Farve is a risk taker to the point that his play is just often stupid. The fact remains that #5 holds the ball too long, too often. When he gets to the playoffs against the good defenses he can be confused. Take a look at #5's INT rate in the playoffs versus the regular season. #5 has great physical skills but that just may not be enough. Also, he is not a very confident fella in the defining moments. I know he is your hero, maybe he'd be better off with a team that is just happy with regular season wins. Carlos2
rush has become a caricature of himself... and he was already a cartoon to start with... what a boob. eaglestuckinbigD

lonewolf: you have zero credibility. You want the Phillies to get rid of Ryan Howard, who HAS a ring. PhillyHouse JayDuce
Limbaugh is a moron. He made a racial comment which he should have known he would be fired for...see Jimmy The Greek and Al Campanis as prior examples. Frankly, Limbaugh should never have been on ESPN in the first place. He has absolutely no qualifications to be a football commentator anyway. His political comments are bad enough to listen to, but at least he has a background there. His hiring at ESPN ranks in a tie as the all-time worst football commentator hiring along with the failed Dennis Miller on MNF experiment. We might as well have Carrot Top commentating on football next. Limbaugh should stick to his main profession, inciting the sheep he calls "listeners" to drive up his ratings. JimG
"Bozo the clown to Cinny to join Ocho,Choko,Moko and T.O. to form the new and improved 3 STOOGES" Uh, genius, I count 5 names, so how are they going to be "3 Stooges"? Watching football might be too strenuous for you. Try following a game like tic tac toe. That's more your speed. Always start the game by putting the "x" in the center square. PhillyHouse JayDuce
lonewolf: I love to expose your ignorant comments. You cited Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, Michael Smith, and Cris Carter as so called "race baiters." Deion Sanders lauded Tim Tebow. If Sanders was such a "racist", that was a perfect opportunity to rip Tebow. Irvin has spoken highly of Aikman an numerous occasions. If Cris Carter was such a "militant" for the "black cause", then why was he so critical of Daunte Culpepper? In addition, I've heard Carter praise Favre on numerous occasions, too. Michael Smith reports on everything. I don't know why you brought him up. If you hate McNabb's playing ability...fine. But with you, it's personal. You were happy when his AZ home was vandalized, you ostracize his parents, and you have actually criticized his speaking ability. Hating someone isn't healthy, dude. PhillyHouse JayDuce
borntosuffer and AngelBird got it right. lonewolf is still an idiot! phillynupe4
When are some of you going to realize how hard it is to find good quarterback and coach? What do you think you can look in the telephone book and find one? How many good coaches lost their job because the couldn't get a quarterback? Do you really think that guys like Gruden and Shannahan suddenly became bad coaches or did they have problems because they didn't have a quarterback? Do you really believe that Favre was Childress's plan all along or did he feel there was no one else available? The fact is that most quarterbacks and coaches do not succeed in the NFL. It is possible that Kolb might be the answer, but you cannot base that fact on only 2 starts. How many quarterbacks have looked good until defense coordinators figured out how to defend against them and the quarterback was not able to make adjustments? I'm not saying that Reid and McNabb don't have their faults. I'm just saying that history shows that the odds are greater of succeeding with them than bringing in someone new. LasVegasScott
There are those who want McNabb to succeed because he is black, and there are those who want him to fail because he is black. It only takes a quick look at the Philly message boards to figure that out. In the end, it's obvious he has been a very good QB. But he is not a leader, and he isn't going to get any better or any closer to winning the SB. Time to move on. DMo
Carlos2: I consider Favre and Manning very good to great QB; my comment was meant to point out that bad decisions are problem with every QB. McNabb's INT rate in playoff is higher but his record (9-7) is still better than Peyton (9-8) and Brees (4-2). Part of the reason he throws INT because the team's defense simply sucks in playoff and he had to force balls to get back in the game. The subjective comments about his confidence and other aspects are not validated by his playoff record. McNabb's playoff record is very good. Seed
