Kinsler takes jab at DeSean, Vick

POSTED: Thursday, February 17, 2011, 5:25 PM

For the second week in a row, I'm writing about a baseball player taking a shot at Michael Vick.

Last week, it was White Sox starter and dog lover Mark Buehrle admitting that he sometimes would root for Vick to get injured last season.

This time, it was Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler, who also included DeSean Jackson in his jab.

Rangers infielder Michael Young requested a trade weeks ago, but Kinsler said he expects his teammate to report to full-squad workouts on Sunday.

"This isn't DeSean Jackson or Michael Vick or Manny Ramirez," Kinsler said, according to Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com. "Michael Young is a professional. It would be completely out of his personality not to be here."

Jackson has made it clear that he wants a new deal (his current one runs out after 2011). But he reported to Lehigh on time last summer. And while his catches and receiving yards were down slightly, Jackson led the NFL in yards per catch (22.5) and yards after the catch (7.5).

As for Vick, we can only assume Kinsler meant he is unprofessional in general since he hasn't really been involved in a contract dispute. Vick was hit with the franchise tag earlier this week.

If you think Kinsler was out of line with his little jab, you'll have your chance to let him know this season. The Rangers visit Citizens Bank Park for a three-game series May 20-22.

Hat tip to the Inquirer's Ashley Fox for Tweeting out the link.

And if you missed it earlier, I posted on the Eagles' window, Andy Reid's job security and Kevin Kolb's future.

Kinsler grew up in suburban Arizona, went to college in Arizona and Missouri, then played pro in Texas. And don't tell me there isn't still a certain white rural farm boy thing going on in MLB. Just look at all the Civil War reenactor facial hair in that league.

You're hair's gonna look like Brooklyn Decker's in a few months you clown. (Kinsler) You have a woman's hairstyle. Mark my word, you're gonna hit .180 this year Kinsler. The Northeastern Corridor of the U.S.A. doesn't like you at all Mr. Kinsler.

Mike Vick's picture is next to the entry for "unprofessional" in the dictionary. It's funny how clueless the homers are. Imagine what they would be saying if the Cowboys would have stooped low enough to sign Vick.

As a Marine Corps recruiter stationed in Dallas, TX I can tell you Cowgirls fans don't like DJax because of how he falls into the endzone against Dallas and when he actually flips the football back into the field of play against Dallas. Can't tell you why they feel the way they do about Manny because I do not follow baseball. The folks of Dallas are still quite chapped that the mayor pro tem gave the key to the city to MV7...

It's amazing, if you speak out against Vick it is racial. As for Jackson, he earned his spot right beside Vick with his comment after the Washington game, "we were like pitbulls, ready to get out of the gage." Yep, Philly has two winners right there. You should be proud.
