Jerry Jones thought Cowboys had Asomugha

The way Jerry Jones sees it, the Cowboys wanted Nnamdi Asomugha, and Asomugha wanted the Cowboys.

But it just didn't work out.

"We had known that he really wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy," Jones said Thursday on a pre-game show, according to The Dallas Morning-News. "And that's a fact. There, for about an hour, I thought he was going to be a Dallas Cowboy. You do that because you can do it and should do it, and take advantage of the opportunity."

He added that the Cowboys were "in the $10 million and up range" for Asomugha. The Eagles ended up getting him with a reported five-year, $60M deal.

The Cowboys were one of only two teams (the other being the Texans) that gave up more touchdown passes (33) than the Eagles (31) in 2010. Dallas also allowed a 92.8 opponent quarterback rating, fourth-worst in the NFL.

GIANTS FIRE BACK

Meanwhile, Giants vice president of communications, Pat Hanlon, has heard enough hype about the Eagles this preseason.

Hanlon, who has an active Twitter account, fired back at followers, who criticized the Giants' lack of activity this offseason.

Here are a couple of his comments, per the New York Daily News:

The last proclamation out of Philly that meant anything was a Declaration in 1776.

I'm angry about a lot of things, but I could give a s*** about the proclamations at end of the Turnpike.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...

I posted my practice observations, which focused on the return of DeSean Jackson, and Man Up on the Eagles' offense earlier Saturday.
