There has been no shortage of story lines on offense for the 2009 Eagles.

The addition and use of Michael Vick.

The injuries to Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook.

The questions on the offensive line.

And the list goes on.

But once again today, the Eagles' most impressive playmaker was the guy we've been talking about since training camp started at Lehigh: DeSean Jackson.

The Birds beat the Chiefs, 34-14, today at the Linc to improve to 2-1. And Jackson shined, catching six balls for 149 yards (career high) and a touchdown. The big play was a 64-yard reception in the second quarter, where Jackson made the catch on a slant from Kolb and took it to the house.

Last week, he had four catches for 101 yards, including a 71-yard score.

Jackson became the first Eagle since Mike Quick to have a 60-plus yard receiving TD in back-to-back games. Quick did it in 1985.

And so, much of the post-game coverage will focus on Kolb, the Wildcat and Vick. But perhaps more important than those things is that Jackson appears to be taking the next step after a stellar rookie season.

Perhaps he heard the Anquan Boldin rumors in the offseason. Perhaps he took offense to the fact that the Eagles traded up and used their first-round pick on Jeremy Maclin.

Or maybe he just has that personal pride and desire to get better.

Whatever the case may be, Jackson is improving each week and proving to be the type of playmaker at wide receiver this franchise has lacked for much of the Andy Reid/McNabb era.

Jackson looked great. So did Kolb and McCoy. Over/under on Celek concussions in '09?

Remember in training camp how the talk was how weak the Birds were at TE? Celek is a beast and Kolb might just be the real deal...I bet he has the record for most passing yards in his first two NFL starts...

Bad day for the haters. Kolb looks great, so Big Red is vindicated. Everyone's favorite 39 y.o. scout-team qb coughs the ball up on his first snap. And in Minnesota, favorite whipping boy Greg Lewis makes a spectacular, game-winning catch with 2 seconds left in the game.

Celek needs to know that he helps his team in the long haul by sitting out and recover from his concussion. It was obvious that he got one. But he's a monstah. Gotta love that kind of effort. Maclin looked ok. Hoping he catches more later as he gets his feet wet.

Can we please play the Panthers and the Chiefs every other week? Considering we tied Cincinnati last year, any win is a good win, and it was nice to see production from so many young players. I thought the early bye week was a bad thing but now it's not looking so bad. Let's get healthy and see what happens

What do you know, in Kolb's 3rd start he looks better than McNabb did after his whole entire rookie year. It was great reading all of the comments by people saying that Kolb can't play in the NFL before he ever got a chance. They look really smart right now. They may need to find something else to start commenting on.

Kolb,Jackson, Mckoy and Maklin the future is HOTT baby. Now, all we need to do is pick up Vick's option for next year, then traid him for a draft, pick or whatever peice we need for the future run
