I was watching Comcast's Monday Night Live show last night, and guest Lito Sheppard had some interesting things to say. I didn't have the DVR set up at the time, but I caught the comments again this morning and thought I'd share them for anyone who missed it.

Sheppard said he's unhappy about not playing, estimating he's on the field for only about 30 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps.

"If you say you want to win and do this and do that, then why aren’t all your best players on the field at the same time or when they need to be?" he said.

Host Ron Burke told Sheppard it sounded like the disgruntled cornerback thought he might not be in Philadelphia all season.

"Well I mean obviously the way things are going, it leads me to believe that," Sheppard said. "So until things change otherwise, I mean, I’m not naïve to the situation."

Sheppard said the situation is getting worse, but he also said he's not the type of person to drag his teammates into his own problems. Burke asked him what, if anything, was going on behind-the-scenes with the Eagles.

"They just want this year to go by and it does what it does and then we’ll see how it goes at the end of the season but that’s not satisfying to me," Sheppard said. "I need to be playing and I’m more than able."

For any developments on the Lito front, be sure to check out blogs Eagletarian and Birds' Eye View. And for stories, columns and everything Birds, go to philly.com's Eagles section.

Lito is putting himself before the team because it will start to be a distraction and hurt the team. The league has changed and everyone is passing the ball a lot more. The 3rd CB is on the field so much that the Eagles have a advantage by having 3 good CBs. If Lito embraces his positions the pass defense can be special. I hope they give Sheldon a raise next year to shove it in Lito's face.

"I need to be playing and I’m more than able." .......I beg to differ - They showed the replay on an incomplete pass to Hester - he had Lito smoked by 2 to 3 yards.

Trade him to Detroit for Roy Williams now! And at least make another offer to Arizona for Boldin...their last game has to have them focused on stopping WRs.

LEE TOO TO JACKSONVILLE FOR GREG JONES. GREG JONES IN 4TH YEAR FROM FSU WOULD GIVE THE EAGLES A GREAT RUNNING AND BIG BLOCKING FULLBACK WHO CAN CATCH IT ALSO. JACKSONVILLE NEEDS DB'S.

Lito...has proven hisself to be a star corner, so I feel like if he is healthy he should be starting...i actually think he is better in man coverage than Samuels and Brown anyway...why not make a QB decide to throw to Lito's side or Samuels side regularly...switching guys in and out at that position is weird because you have to get into a groove. imagine QB looks right...nah Lito's there, look left Asante's there...then sack or INT

When Lito has been on the field this year he hasn't made plays. Our secondary in general has been a disappointment...I would definitely look at a deal if it would improve FB or WR.

Trading a pro bowl caliber CB to upgrade at a postion the Eagles barely use (fullback) is absurd.

Lito should not be traded. He has a fair contract. Actually, he may even be a bit OVERPAID. If I were AR, I would not negotiate or anything. Just make him play and STFU. We are all tired of his moaning and groaning...Just leave it alone Leetoh.

Why Jim Johnson doesn't rotate him with Sheldon every other series? To be fair, Lito did nothing to cause him to be completely demoted to a nickle cornerback. I would suggest that he gets rotated in so that he gets more snaps for him to be happy or we need make a good offer to someone involving Lito and some draft picks. I don't believe our secondary will miss him as the unit has been getting toasted every other week. Be more creative in getting him on the field or get him out of here, it's as simple as that.

I can't believe he is still complaining about more time on the field. I have not heard his name mentioned once this season for making a play. Maybe if he put more energy into his play, another team would be asking for him. I don't hear anyone calling,Lito. Doesn't that tell you something! Help your team that is what you are being paid to do.

You know, if all of us fans just ignored this situation, Lito would have no power and could rant and rave all he wants.
