No Eagle played more snaps than Todd Herremans in 2011. (David Maialetti/Staff Photographer)

Todd Herremans played 1,094 snaps last season, tied for most on the Eagles with Jason Kelce, according to Pro Football Focus.

Today, he was named to USA Today's All-Joe Team, which rewards "first-rate players who receive second-rate recognition." Only players who have never been named to the Pro Bowl are eligible. Here's their writeup on Herremans:

A starting guard his first six NFL seasons, he shifted to right tackle in 2011, a move that made him Michael Vick's blind-side bodyguard. Philadelphia's 6,386 yards were a team record.

After the Eagles failed with a few different options at right tackle during training camp, Herremans stepped in and played well. With him and Jason Peters, the Eagles have a couple of good tackles going into 2012.

Brent Celek was also named to the All-Joe team:

Tough yards are his forte. According to STATS Inc., his 8.1 yards after the catch (and he had 62 receptions) was the best among all tight ends in 2011. Celek is also an effective blocker, a trait not all modern tight ends are known for.

MOCKING THE EAGLES

One more mock draft released today. This one from Don Banks of SI.com. Like many others, he's got the Eagles taking Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly at No. 15:

When you say the words "linebacker" and "Boston College" in the same sentence, Eagles fans still instantly think of Mike Mamula, the team's over-hyped first-rounder in 1995. But Kuechly is this year's finest inside linebacker prospect, and that's where the crying need lies on Philly's defense.

I rounded up some other mock drafts and links yesterday.

lol that the eagles will take a LB in the first round. how about a "high motor undersized guy" with a history of knee issues. after of course they trade out of the 1st round for a package of picks over the next 4 years.

chad don't get crazy, why take another Brandon Graham when you can trade out of the first round and pass on three future pro bowl LB's to get the next Kevin Kolb and Trevor Laws and an extra first in 2013 that you could then use for the undersized DE with a great motor and... I forsee the name Tannehill being all over Andy and Marty's radar , former WR big athletic just like a reverse Matt Jones who they wanted so bad about 8 years ago... they love a project

Why bother? We know what's going to happen. The Eagles make a big splash at linebacker in free agency. They will draft a few "steals" in April including a big stud WR. Everyone will be psyched going into the season. We will go 11-5 (After starting 2-2) lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs and everyone will decry the front office, Andy Reid and mock all of the free agent signings and draft picks. Does that kind of sum things up?

Not Mamula....er Kuechly. Kuechly is undersized and slow for NFL. Kind of player, like Mamula, who looks good in college but just is not big enough or fast enough for NFL. The LB picks that Banks shows for Packers and Patriots are Eagles better choice or Burflict who is big, fast stellar performer and whose only knock is he gets "enraged" playing the game sometimes and takes unnecessary penalties. Sounds like Bill Bergey material to me. A litte raging bull at MLB would be just what the Eagles need.

Nice to see Herremans recognized by at least someone this year. He had a good year and wasn't recognized in any of the other award list I seen at season end.

Eagles need to draft Dont'a Hightower or Vontaze Burficit, Would not be disappointed if they draft Safety Mark Barron from Bama.

Love the first and last name you used...how about if Dre Kirkpatrick is stil there at 15?...Because of a bad decision, it may happen...Look for Dwight Jones in the second or third.

Two things that are funny about what you don't know about Kuechly. Guy had a stellar collegiate career. He can't be anything like Mamula because he hasn't even gone to the Combine yet. Mamula jumped in the draft because of his workouts, not because of his production. Idiots. The guy has also been compared favorably to Zac Thomas. Zac Thomas who went to 8 Pro Bowls as an undersized, slow MLB. Secondly, most if not all the draft "experts" say he's the safest pick in the draft. The Eagles need talent, but most of all, they need to assure the pick is a safe bet and a starter. He's the guy. But I digress; the negadelphians know it all.

And Kuechly excelled both on the outside (when he took over for Mark Herzlich), and then in the middle..The instincts are there...Playing in the middle is about read and react...not running 40 yards in a straight line...He is a player. If people really "value" the position, then you get the guy that really is the best player at that position...Not the guy who looks best in the uni.

herremans is overrated not underrated. the o-line was not good last year. i cant fathom how all of a sudden at the end of the season our o-line is all of sudden good. eagles need a new d-coordinator, an lb in the draft, a fa lb, a tackle and a safety from anywhere.

It's gotta be Kuechly. Last year they were missing the usual slow white LB who can't fight off blocks and makes a lot of tackles 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. You saw how badly THAT tuned out, didn't you?

Oh wait. I forgot about Matthews. Ok, we're good.

Pick the small fragile DL with a lot of potential instead because we're down to about one of those.

Rational for drafting big tall DL? Batting the ball down at the LOS! Seems AR has a propensity for small short light weight football players. Not smart. Andy needs a change in philosophy but who among the inner circle will oppose AR and his small-high motor philosophy? No one!!
