Giants' Tuck: McNabb, Runyan have tells
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
Giants defensive lineman Justin Tuck had some interesting thing to say about the Eagles during an interview with Dan Patrick earlier this week.Patrick asked Tuck to give an example of a quarterback who has a tell, in terms of figuring out when the ball is going to be snapped.
“I would say the one I can really say the most is probably McNabb," Tuck said. "You can tell when he’s about to snap the ball in shotgun or when he’s under the center. If you’re able to see it, he always claps his hands together when he’s about to snap the football. Well, not always, obviously nothing is 100 percent, but you can definitely start to get ready when you see that happen.”
Tuck said Jon Runyan had a tell also.
"And also Runyan, as a tackle, he has a tell as far as how his foot’s placed," Tuck said. "You can tell run or pass off of it. Sometimes he kind of tricks you and gives you some different looks. For the most part, it’s kind of reliable."
Tuck's comments are interesting because during the Cardinals-Falcons wild-card game in Arizona, the Cards' defense did a tremendous job of timing Matt Ryan's snap count. It even led to a second-half forced fumble that resulted in a defensive touchdown. Just one more thing to keep an eye out for in Sunday's game.
There was one other comment Tuck made that might be of interest here. Patrick asked him about McNabb's picking-up-the-phone stunt from last week. Tuck said he didn't find out about it until after the game. Patrick asked if he would have popped McNabb had he seen it happen live.
"More than likely, yes," Tuck said.
He added that he doesn't "look highly upon it."
By the way, I posted our weekly look at who's picking the Eagles earlier today.
Tuck is running his mouth now that his season is over. If the Giants had figured out the snap count, why then couldn't the Ginas sack McNabb at least ONCE in three games? anthonycbis
I am a huge Eagles fan but Tuck nothing more than honest. If Dawkins was asked and the same thing was done to the Eagles (picking up a phone on the sideline) I am pretty sure Dawk would have said the same thing. mwilgus
they never show any of my comments this sucks JJWISEGUY
what if i did it this way b-utt JJWISEGUY- Tuck must have meant seeing these "tells" in the first half. He was too busy on the bench in the 2nd half after the Eagles beat the s---out of him. Bob1
I guess there's a "tell" to Tuck's having a bad day - no sacks, losing defense, and whining to the national press. davesju93- so if runyan varies it sometimes, its not a tell you fool
"For the most part, it’s kind of reliable." ...like a philly post office nickj- It's a little late for that, Tuck... haha...if there really was a significant tell, Mcnabb and Runyan wouldn't have had so much continued success kjuggs77

Sure didn't help Tuck much against Runyan. He was a non=factor. See ya next year pal! p-diddy
Comment removed.- Ummm okay, lets just accept the fact that they are each kind of predictable for the sake of this story. Then how did you lose Mr. Tuck?!? The Giants have a good team, but they are not as good as they believe they are.
every football game i watch on tv, i can tell on about 75% of the plays whether its going to be a run or a pass. And i'm stiing on my couch..thousands of miles away from the game. tuck's real name was something else but his mother had to change it. we all know what it was!!! HPM3ACVJK
