Running back Brandon Jacobs said this afternoon that the Eagles didn't stop him, but that the Giants stopped themselves.
"Number one, they didn’t stop me," Jacobs said as he cleaned out his locker. "Let’s get that correct right now. They didn’t stop me. They won the game. And a lot of things we didn’t execute on. Yeah, I wish the Eagles luck down the road and the rest of this run and I hope they can go win it but they didn’t stop us. We stopped ourselves."
Jacobs ran for 92 yards on 19 carries, and many Giants critics wonder why he didn't get the ball more. During his post-game press conference, Jacobs predicted that the Eagles would win it all.
"I think they just beat the only team that had a chance to beat them," Jacobs said. "I'm on their bandwagon. I'm picking Philly to win the whole thing."
This was likely the last time the Eagles had to deal with the Giants' three-pronged attack as currently constructed. Jacobs and running back-mate Derrick Ward are both unrestricted free agents. Reports out of New York indicate that the Giants will likely bring one, but not both, back for next season.
