FredEx investigated after pot delivery

No matter how hard we try, we just can't get away from Freddie Mitchell here at MTC.

What is it this time?

Mitchell is under investigation after a package of marijuana was delivered to his barbecue joint in Florida, sources tell The Ledger (Fla.).

According to the article, a FedEx (yes, yes, we get it) package containing about seven pounds of pot was delivered to the home of Mitchell's grandmother, who is 90 years old.

She told the delivery driver that the package wasn't for her and was probably for Freddie. So the driver gave her a phone number for her grandson to call later and claim the package.

Mitchell called the number and had the package delivered to his restaurant, Brothers Bar-B-Q. As soon as he signed for it in the parking lot, "police were everywhere" Mitchell told lthe newspaper.

"This is a case of mistaken identity," Mitchell told The Ledger.

Said his lawyer John Liguori: "This was a case of celebrity hunting. They got all excited, and they jumped the gun."

Mitchell was briefly handcuffed but was not arrested.

Police would not tell The Ledger whether his name was even on the package.

And here you thought we'd have trouble coming up with posts in between the Super Bowl and free agency.
