Flight Night: DeSean's prediction, Kolb's intro

At 7:24 p.m., Kevin Kolb was introduced as the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field for the first time.

It was Flight Night, not a regular-season game. And Kolb came out of the tunnel with a red jersey on, delivering three swirling fist pumps as he ran to join the rest of his teammates.

During practice, Kolb and the offense did not look sharp. In fact, it was probably as out of sync as they've looked in the last couple of weeks.

Here are some observations from the practice, which did not include a live hitting period:

* DeSean Jackson spoke for the first time in awhile. Jackson did not participate in practice, but he was in attendance and interviewed by the team. Reminded by Dave Spadaro that he had eight touchdowns of 50 yards or more in 2009, Jackson was asked what that number would be in 2010. He predicted 15, and told the fans the Birds were aiming to go all the way to the Super Bowl.

Michael Vick was greeted warmly by the fans. He came out in his warmups before practice and received an ovation. When Vick and the second-team offense took the field, the crowd was pretty much all cheers also.

* Akeem Jordan was introduced as the starting SAM linebacker. Jeremy Maclin was introduced, but did not participate, jogging slowly out of the tunnel.

* As has been the case for a few days now, Moise Fokou practiced with both the linebackers and defensive linemen.

Cornelius Ingram and Clay Harbor both saw action as the second tight end.

* The biggest offensive play of the night was probably a 55-yard touchdown pass from Mike Kafka to wide receiver Jared Perry.

* Other Eagles were interviewed as well. Brent Celek and Leonard Weaver both led the crowd in Eagles chants.

* I did not notice any significant injuries, although J.J. Arrington walked off the field at one point and took a knee.

* In terms of players standing out, rookie cornerback Trevard Lindley probably had the best showing. Lindley had a near-interception of Vick and also broke up a Vick pass intended for Riley Cooper.

Trevor Laws has been seeing some time as an inside pass rusher in place of Darryl Tapp in nickel situations.

* The Eagles return to Lehigh for an afternoon practice on Friday and will rev up the intensity once again this weekend.

* The announced crowd was 31,124, slightly less than the 31,786 that attended last year. For those of you who were at the Linc or watched on NFL Network, feel free to chime in with your thoughts. With no hitting and few completions, there wasn't a lot to cheer about.
