Ex-Eagles find homes

During the season, I'll take a weekly look at how former Eagles are performing with their new teams.

As a preseason version of that feature, here are some short notes on ex-Birds who have popped up on other teams.

The Eagles traded for reserve fullback

in an offseason deal with the Colts. Lawton was cut by the Birds, but has joined the Oakland Raiders. According to

, the Raiders brought Lawton in for a week-long look, cut him, but then brought him back. Sounds about right.

Meanwhile,

. Wilson was a second-round pick in the 2004 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, but he played fullback last season. The Eagles signed him to a three-year deal in March but cut Wilson over the weekend.

It's hard to believe the season is about to begin, but the Redskins travel to the Meadowlands to take on the defending Super Bowl champion (I can't wait until I can stop referring to them by that title) New York Giants Thursday night. On
