Marty thinks Vick will be back
"I think he's back," said Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg when asked about Michael Vick's status for the upcoming season.
Publicly, the Eagles have been consistent in their support for Michael Vick this offseason.
And that continued today when offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg told David Teel of the Daily Press: "I think he's back."
Mornhinweg went on to praise Vick for his on-the-field performance this offseason, something we heard quite a bit off from the coaching staff at the NovaCare Complex.
"In our mini camps, you could see that great, great athleticism," Mornhinweg said at the Top Gun football camp in James City County. "I would expect great things from Michael Vick this year."
THE EAGLES' WORTH
Jonathan Tamari over at Birds' Eye View covered this, but since I already had the following item written, I thought I might as well include it.
The Eagles made Forbes' annual list of 50 most valuable franchises in the world.
According to the list, the Eagles are worth $1.12 billion ($250M in revenue), making them the 11th-most valuable franchise in the world.
Interestingly enough, those numbers rank dead last in the NFC East. All four teams rank in the top 11. And four of the seven most valuable NFL franchises are NFC East teams.
The Cowboys are the second-most valuable franchise in the world and the most valuable franchise in the NFL at $1.65 billion ($280M in revenue). The Redskins are fourth overall and second in the NFL at $1.55 billion ($280M in revenue). And the Giants are seventh overall and fourth in the NFL at $1.18 billion ($230M in revenue).
The other NFL teams in the top 10 were the Patriots (No. 5), the Jets (No. 9) and the Texans (No. 10).
PREDICTION
Andy Benoit The Fifth Down New York Times blog predicts a 9-7/10-6 season for the Eagles, which he thinks will translate to third place in the NFC East.
