Report: Eagles to work out LSU RB Scott

LSU running back Charles Scott is one of many prospects who will work out for the Eagles in the coming weeks, according to a report.

LSU running back Charles Scott has an official visit scheduled with the Eagles, a source tells Ed Thompson of Scout.com.

At 5 feet 11, 238 pounds, Scott is considered a power back. In 2008, he piled up 1,174 yards and 18 touchdowns, while averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He had just 31 receptions in four seasons at LSU

Most draft sites have Scott ranked between the 12th- and 16th-best running back prospect, which would project to a late-round pick.

Scout.com has updates on several other prospect visits and workouts. Below is a list of guys that Thompson and Chris Steuber have connected the Eagles to. As I've mentioned a dozen times, teams check out many prospects this time of year so don't read too much into these:

* TCU's Jerry Hughes has a workout scheduled with the Eagles. Scout.com has Hughes listed as a defensive end, but many other sites have him as an outside linebacker. He's listed at 6-2, 255 and had 26 sacks over the last two seasons. NFL.com's Mike Mayock has Hughes ranked as the fourth-best OLB prospect, and Wes Bunting of the National Football Post has him as the top-rated OLB.

* Idaho guard Mike Iupati has worked out, or will work out, for the Eagles. Iupati, listed at 6-5, 331 pounds, is considered the top-rated interior lineman by most of the draft pundits. Les Bowen of the Daily News wrote about Iupati at length in February and talked about the idea of him playing tackle at the next level.

* Indiana offensive tackle Rodger Saffold will work out for the Eagles on March 31. Saffold is 6-4, 316 and started at left tackle for three seasons with the Hoosiers. Bunting has him listed as the fourth-best tackle although some draft sites project him at guard in the NFL.

* The Birds will work out OLB/DE Chris McCoy from Middle Tennessee State in Philadelphia on April 8th and 9th. McCoy's listed at 6-4, 244 pounds and had seven sacks last season.

* The Eagles are among three teams who will work out Michigan punter Zoltan Mesko.
