Eagles' take on Cowboys' left tackle

Catching up on some links: The Cowboys' left tackle, today's Albert Haynesworth update and catching up with former Eagles DT Darwin Walker.

Some links to pass along today:

* This one from ESPN.com's Matt Mosley caught my eye.

Mosley writes about the Cowboys' left tackle position. Flozell Adams, who started all but 10 games there since 1999, is gone. But who will replace him? The assumption was that it would be Doug Free, but Mosley says that might not be the consensus around the league:

I recently took a peek at the Eagles' depth chart for the Cowboys, and they have Alex Barron's name next to Free's. They didn't do that with the other 10 positions on offense. And the Eagles aren't alone. There's a belief from the Giants and Redskins that Barron will eventually win the job because of his experience. That's not to say they're rooting for Barron, because they'd actually like Trent Cole, Justin Tuck and Brian Orakpo to have a go at Free.

Mosley mentioned Trent Cole there. Cole had very little success getting to Tony Romo last season. One sack in three games and not a lot of pressure. We'll see how he fares this season, whether the matchup is against Free, Barron or somebody else.

* Disgruntled Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth released a statement today, saying he plans on showing up to training camp on time:

"Despite my current differences with the Redskins, I have always planned to attend training camp and honor my contract. As I have previously said, I am continuing to prepare for the season individually and will report on time, in shape and ready to play football. Any issues I have with the club I will discuss privately and therefore do not plan to make any further public comments about this matter."

One Tweeter sent along this defense of Haynesworth. I don't buy it. No need to make excuses for the guy. At some point, certain athletes need to realize that garnering sympathy when you have six or seven zeroes at the end of your salary is not going to happen.

* Some ex-Eagles nuggets. The Redskins have added cornerback Ramzee Robinson off waivers. You may remember that Robinson spent a few games with the Birds last season.

And former Eagles defensive tackle Darwin Walker said he hasn't ruled out returning to the NFL, per GoVolsExtra.com.

"I haven't ruled out the possibility of playing still," he said. "I've had a couple of offers. I turned them all down."

Walker also talked about losing the Super Bowl with the Birds:

"I've played in it and I lost it; I never got over that feeling," Walker said. "If I could just get one, I'd be happy."
