Eagles showing interest in Sims?

POSTED: Thursday, April 1, 2010, 9:09 PM

The Eagles may be one of the teams in the mix for Seahawks guard Rob Sims, according to reports.

Sims (6-3, 312) signed his restricted free agent tender, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. Per his report, the Eagles, Bears and Lions are all looking to acquire Sims via trade.

Sims is 26 and played in 14 games last season. According to ESPN's John Clayton, who reports the Eagles might have interest, Sims can play either the right or left side.

It's difficult to predict what the interior of the Eagles' line is going to look like in Week 1 of the 2010 season. With the current roster, I'd assume Nick Cole would play center if Jamaal Jackson's not ready. Todd Herremans has the left guard position locked down, but don't forget that he slips over to left tackle if Jason Peters gets injured. And on the right side, the optimistic view would be that Stacy Andrews gets his act together and claims that spot. Max Jean-Gilles would be the other option.

Again, we're getting way ahead of ourselves, but that's what it looks like now.

Daily McNabb update

Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt was asked once again about Donovan McNabb today.

"As of right now, he's with another football team so it's not something I can comment on," Whisenhunt said, per Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic. "I've known Donovan from being on the field with him, and he's a good football player and a good person. Hopefully, things work out for him the way he wants it to."

Somers explained that Whisenhunt was likely just having some fun with reporters, given that the Cardinals have said repeatedly that they're not interested in McNabb.

I'm not going to lie but that O-Line was dreadful against the Cowboys. I wouldn't say draft to get a better O-Line because we need to get better on defense . THe offense is solid as a pool ball. But y'all need a better O-Line. Now Jason Peters was the best pick up last year, it was good to get the BEST Tackle in the NFL right NOW. But I say we're 1-2 great O-Line players from having a dominant O-Line. But when I say dreadful I mean HORRIBLE/TERRIBLE . The O-Line was ugly last year against Dallas . Thta O-Line was so ugly it was like you just wanted Demarcus Ware and other defensive players get sacks. All i saw was Cowboys defensive line players swimming past your blockers. And out-powering them. I love to see the Eagles land somebody like Kenin Mawe,Orlando Pace,or Rob Sims. Y'all sure could use some extra O-Line players. Because I doubt they're trading McNabb . And McNabb he(sometimes)takes up all the time in the world in the pocket and get sacked less the 2 seconds or . It's rare to see McNabb run . But he's ok becuase he now wears a Flak jacket under his jersey with extra protection. But all i'm saying is Draft well in this coming draft sign some guards or draft some later in the draft once you've drafted a safety and a Linebacker . Those are a need and would probally need to draft a Corner in the end . Hopefully the Eagles move up some spots and would be able to draft Eric Berry or Taylor Mays. I say draft Taylor Mays because we need somebody that can hit hard and make tackles.

Either a OL in the first rd or Eric Berry. Birds have something in the works and that's why we see the visit of Berry to the Birds. Rumors abound with 6 teams, all which draft in the first 14 rds which makes the probability of a deal with the Birds for a high rd pick more likely. Should be a very interesting Thursday night (4/22)

Too bad Sims isn't coming off and ACL tear. Eagles would have snagged him up by now.

"McGlynn and Dunlap both seem like wasted picks right now." You DO realize that Dunlap was either a 7th rounder or undrafted, right? Anything after the third round is a shot in the dark anyway. McGlynn hasn't had an opportunity (for whatever reason, maybe he stinks, I don't know). Either way, you're beating on two players who aren't the problem. The problem is that we've been picking in the mid to late first round for a whole decade. Tough to find Pro Bowlers and HOF'ers that late in a draft!

The Gocong and Brown trade with the Browns will give them the picks to get this deal done. Look for two trades next week. After the smoke clears they may even net an additional pick before draft time.

Bigbadrookie: Yes he will throw more Int than McNabb, no doubt about it. Just about every first year starting QB has problems with the Int. Its a learning thing.
